Caroline from Ashby De La Zouch stayed at Farfield for 7 nights in August
We returned this summer for another week at Farfield. Location blows me away every time, the views are breath taking. We had the master suite, it's massive , and our kids were on the top floor with a large bathroom to share. The kitchen is very well equipped , two comfy sitting rooms and it's nice that the owners have left books and dvds for you to use during your stay. The gardens are very big and we loved walking down to the beach at the bottom (pebbly but you usually have it to your self and great for shells). There are some lovely sandy beaches within a short distance and porthscatho and st mawes are a short drive. The only negative I would say is that you can tell the plumbing is a bit antiquated and some of the locks are very stuff. This didn't particularly bother us though. We will be booking again for next year.

Jasmine from Hope Valley stayed at Farfield for 7 nights in June
The house has a stunning view with lovely grounds straight onto the coastal path. It was roomy house for our family of 8 adults 2 dogs and a baby. There were games, DVDs and even some children's toys and the kitchen is well equipped. The beds and sofas were very comfortable, and there is a drying room for boots and wet clothes. The slight negatives were, that there is not much outdoor furniture - a picnic bench and 2 small wooden tables, also the house looks a little 'tired' and in need of some upgrading. Overall it was excellent for our family holiday.

We loved our week at your stunning property. The only negative was the lights weren't always attached to a switch which was slightly confusing and there was a bit of damp in the lounge. The rest of the stay was perfect. Thanks

Angela from Shropshire stayed at Farfield for 14 nights in July
'Farfield' is a delightful spacious, and comfortable house in a truly spectacular location, with a totally unhindered view of the whole of Gerrans Bay, and Nare Head, which is breathtaking. The house is surrounded by a beautiful well maintained mature garden, with direct access to the Coastal path, and the beach below. The renowned 'Hidden Hut' cafe on the headland above Porthcurnick beach is a just a gentle stroll along the lane from 'Farfield'. Along the coast path in the opposite direction are the beaches of Pendower and Carne. We enormously enjoyed our three generation two week holiday at 'Farfield', and plan to return, though I am reluctantly marking 'Farfield' down for condition, but feel it is valid. There were flushing problems with the cloakroom and master bathroom toilets. The management company responded to the problem promptly, but their plumber was unable to repair during our stay. This flushing problem had been mentioned in a testemonial by guests in May, I can only assume they didn't report it to the Management company, otherwise we would not have experienced the same problem in July! Sadly the tumble dryer failed early in our first week, and a replacement was due for delivery the day after our holiday ended! However this problem could have arisen in any holiday home, good weather allowed us to dry beach towels outside in the main, and we used the heated bathroom towel rails as well. We also would have really appreciated a 'Guest Information Book' to give us basic information about the house, We had to hunt about to find keys for windows, and the access code for the wi-fi we eventually found on a ragged piece of paper in a drawer of the hall table. All previous holiday homes we have rented over many years have always provided a 'Guest Info Book'. PLEASE consider this for the benefit of future guests.
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the OwnerWe are delighted you enjoyed your family holiday at Farfield. The owner has asked us to thank you for your helpful feedback and wanted you to know that, since your departure, the two WCs with the flushing problems have been fixed and the new tumble dryer has been installed. He is very sorry you were unable to find the guest information folder which should have been left for you on the hall table. We do hope you and your family will return to Farfield soon.

The views, location and gardens were outstanding! Would stay here again for sure. The second bedroom really should have a proper shower in it for the price you pay. Also the toilets didnt flush very well. Otherwise very well equipped and did not want to leave.
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the ownerWe are so glad you liked the property! Just to let you know that the flushing problem with the WCs has now been fixed. We do hope you will come back to Farfield soon.

A wonderful house in a spectacular location with oceans of space and a convenient location for the famous Hut Cafe. The only downside to the property is that the toilet systems are difficult to flush.

Robert from Braintree stayed at Farfield for 7 nights in May
The view could not be faulted it is better in reality than it looks on-line. Just a couple of niggles so could not use excellent, the plumbing needs a bit of attention as a couple of the toilets were difficult to flush and downstairs cloakroom tap was very stiff. There was cereal on the floor in the kitchen left by previous renters that had not been cleaned up. I believe that the downstairs area could do with a further T.V, this is because the house sleeps 8 and not everyone wants to watch the same thing. The last observation is that the house is a little damp in places - it does not affect you but it is a shame to see it. My wife did text the housekeepers when we left as to what mattress was in the master bedroom because it was so, so comfortable that we need to buy one, but she did not get an answer which was a shame, but we did call on them a couple of times during our stay and they were more than helpful. The above are minor niggles that did not in anyway spoil our stay but just worth a mention. The house IS absolutely wonderful, the grounds are idyllic as is the view, and I would not hesitate to come again or to suggest the house to others, as we did not want to leave it.
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the OwnerWe are very grateful to you for your feedback and wanted to let you know that the flushing problem with the two WCs has now been put right. We do hope you will come back to Farfield soon!

Nicholette from Etchinghill stayed at Farfield for 7 nights in September
This property certainly has the wow factor. The grounds are beautifully maintained and a pleasure to wander around looking at the stunning views, our dogs loved running free in the field and we appreciated the fact that we were able to take ours to this property. The house itself was very comfortable and clean and really can not be faulted. We love this area of Cornwall, it's peaceful with great walks and beaches and of course there's the Hidden Hut a short walk away for tasty food. We were amazed at the stars, being an unpolluted area we saw far more than we do at home and we thought we had it good! A couple of small points that would be helpful is a gate at the bottom of the stairs to stop dogs going up as the top gate doesn't always work properly and Vets details being included in the arrival notes. Thank you for letting us use your beautiful home we would definitely like stay again.

Guest from Merstham stayed at Farfield for 7 nights in August
The house was very clean and comfortable and we were able to find everything we needed in the kitchen. We had to supplement the toilet rolls as we ran out with no replacement supplies locatable. Weather generally better than the forecast and grounds were well maintained and laid out. Would book again as we did not exhaust local opportunities and it was a nice house to be in.

Guest from Birmingham stayed at Farfield for 7 nights in July
We had a wonderful week in Farfield and decided it was our favourite Cornish holiday home - we have been hiring houses for the last eight years in Cornwall. The location was fantastic with the most amazing views and the well kept gardens were not only extensive but beautifully maintained which to be honest, is not our usual experience. There was everything we could ever have needed in the well equipped kitchen and house in general and the generosity of the owners, leaving coats, hats and shoes was a much appreciated extra, plus the food cupboard with its useful contents. If we had to make any suggestions, it would be the problem of not getting in until 4pm as we had travelled from Birmingham and after a long journey, it would have made life so much easier for an earlier entry especially as we had two pregnant mums-to-be! As we have to be out by 10am, we feel that we are cheated out of a day?! The cleaner said that some people had asked for an early entry. Had that been a possibility, I would have made that request! One other point is that the rooms at the top of the house felt damp. Having had horrendous weather on the Thursday night before we left, the window sills were splashing with water where the rain had come in even though the windows were shut. There was also damp in the conservatory. Fortunately we had good weather all week so it wasn't too much of a problem. We would love to return another year. Thank you for the clear and easy running of all the booking, payments etc. Best wishes, Alison Cookson and family.

Guest from Chester stayed at Farfield for 14 nights in June
A great house with an amazing view and so many vantage points. We couldn't fault it - comfort, location, space and quiet, fresh fish and fruit from the farm shop. Seeing the full moon reflected on the sea at midnight was one of the highlights as were the ever-changing colours. This was our 3rd visit to the Roseland peninsular but definitely the best location. Worth noting that for cream teas Melinsey Mill is closed on Mondays - by luck we chose to walk there on a Tuesday. Our favourite restaurant in the area is still The Rosevine (and walkable, which means everyone can enjoy a drink.)

The views from Farfield are amazing. The grounds are superb. The ability to directly access the coastal path and close proximity to beaches was a definite bonus. The house has ample accommodation which is clean and comfortable. Small details to make a stay more enjoyable were attended to. We are already looking at a future booking.

What more can one say about the location of Farfield? This outstanding cliff top location offers 180 degree sea views from Nare Head and Gull Rock right across Gerrans Bay. The grounds are extensive and benefit from the views from most parts. There is access to the coastal footpath and beach across one small field at the bottom of the garden. The house itself has spacious living rooms, a large kitchen and bedrooms over first and second floors, all of which benefit from the amazing views. Both double bedrooms on the first floor have balconies - the perfect place to sit in the morning over a coffee and take in the beauty of this place. The house is private, relatively secluded, with only a couple of neighbouring properties in this exclusive part of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula.

Farfield is situated in Rosevine which is just a 5 minute drive from nearby Portscatho or about 10 minutes to St Mawes. Just a short walk along the lane can be found the Michelin starred restaurant at Driftwood where you can sample the excellent cuisine of chef Chris Eden. There is also The Rosevine with its relaxed bistro style food and wonderful views. The Rosevine also has a swimming pool which is ideal to keep the kids entertained on rainy days! Just a little further is beautiful Porthcurnick Beach and the famous Hidden Hut beach cafe. Sandy, safe and so friendly, this beach is a firm favourite for many who visit the Roseland.

The Roseland Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms one of the finest sections of Cornwall's South Coast. From Mevagissey to St Mawes and bordered by the Fal Estuary to the west, the Roseland Peninsula has been drawing visitors for years with its splendid coastline, unique gardens, historic villages and superb sailing waters. A truly magnificent part of Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula is a wonderful place to spend a memorable holiday. With The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other the Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do.

St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Gardens house a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. St Just-in-Roseland has arguably the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek. The Veryan Roundhouses are a must see, on the way to Nare Head, where you will find the most spectacular views of Gerrans Bay. The little village of Portloe nestles in lovely valley and is one of Cornwall's quintessential spots. Portscatho has a number of art galleries and many artists find the light in this harbour village inspires much of their work. The Roseland Inn at Philleigh is a 16th century pub just waiting for you to visit, as is the newly refurbished Smugglers Cottage at Tolverne, perfect for that afternoon Cornish Cream Tea, now run by Tregothnan Estate home to the UK's first tea plantation. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline.

Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.

Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along past Towan beach and out to St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.
