Beautiful property in a wonderful location. The views are unequalled and can be enjoyed from either balcony or the very comfortable lounge - in fact all the rooms including the kitchen which is beautifully fitted and equipped. Comfort is only marked as good because we found the mattress in the upstairs bedroom very hard( a minor detail) . It is a very short walk to St.Mawes through the beautiful gardens and down the steps which are even lit at night!. We are already planning our next visit.

We have been gathering together in the Springtime by the sea for a family catch-up for a number of years and over time have been fortunate to stay in some fabulous houses and locations situated along the southern coastline. Fiddlers Green tops all regarding both presentation of the property and its stunning location; it certainly ticked all of the boxes that individually and collectively we had hoped for when first planning a coastal stay. Sincere thanks to all who enable such a super property to be available for use by those seeking a dose of pure bliss.

This visit I returned with three female friends so quite different to my first family visit. It did not dissapoint and was as good as my previous visit. In fact a couple of my friends were so impressed that they intend to return with their families.Recommendation enough I feel.Hopefully the "Ladies of a certain age " will be back.

The difficulty for our family was that we could not take our small clean housetrained dog. He is one of the family and we will not leave him in kennels . This makes going on holiday anywhere hard work as we have to lodge him with friends or family whose good will we have now exhausted . For this reason we will not be coming back to Fiddlers Green. We have been twice in high season and would like to book another week this year for next as apart from Rover we have been happy there.

This is a tastefully presented, well equipped property. The location is excellent with a beautiful view and convenient access to the town. St Mawes has some pleasant eating places, and the Co-op shop is quite well stocked, which it needs to be because St Mawes is quite remote. We'd be happy to stay here again with one caveat: - the main sofa that looks out at the view was not comfortable for sitting and reading. A previous review described this accurately. We tried several bodies on the sofa and all agreed :-) I've indicated that I would recommend this property, but to be enthusiastic about it, I'd like to see the comfort issue addressed.
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the OwnersThe Owners would like to thank you very much for your kind remarks about the property and appreciate what you have said about the sofa. They wanted you to know that they have taken this on board and have already ordered two new sofas. We do hope this will entice you back to the property again in the near future.

This house has spectacular views across St Mawes and Falmouth Bay. If boats and ships interest you, then this is the place. There is continual activity on the water to hold that interest. If the weather does not suit, the house offers comfort and warmth for those days. Last week whilst the rest of the U.K. froze we got sunburnt siting on the balcony. St Mawes appears to have its own micro climate which tends to give warmer day days.

Guest from London stayed at Fiddlers Green for 7 nights in April
The whole family said the same thing as they walked into the living-room of Fiddler's Green - "Wow!" - the view is fantastic. All the bedrooms are very comfortable with en-suite facilities (the entrance-level bedroom was great for my mother-in-law, who finds stairs difficult). The kitchen was spacious and very well-equipped when we wanted a break from the excellent restaurants in Saint Mawes. Would have loved to have spent more time on the terraces but there's no controlling the Cornish weather in April! More expensive than many places in Cornwall but it was worth every penny. Can't wait to go back.

Daniel from Warwick stayed at Fiddlers Green for 7 nights in March
Where to start! The fantastic location affords views over St Anthony's head and down to the village, so even if the weather is poor, you can enjoy the outlook. The kitchen is fabulously equipped - you won't find a shortage of implements or vessels, though the ceramic induction hob gets a little getting used to. The house is warm (we lit the wood stove once, but not out of necessity) and cosy and the bedrooms comfy and well equipped with ensuites to each. There are games, books and some DVDs left for any poor weather days. The internet is a bit slow down in St Mawes, so don't expect brilliant wifi there - but enough for website visits, not video streaming. We were a family of 10 (6 adults and 4 children), cooking in each night. We've been visiting St Mawes since time immemorial and have not found a better place to stay. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful week in St. Mawes in this lovely house celebrating our Golden Wedding with all our family. The large comfortable bedrooms all with ensuite were excellent for the eleven of us, 3 generations. The house was well equipped, especially the magnificent kitchen although the lounge furniture was a little tired. The views across St. Mawes and out to sea were stunning. Access to St. Mawes was easy through lovely terraced gardens, well lit at night, and then a short walk into town where there were many lovely places to eat. The Tresanton Hotel provided an excellent celebration meal for us and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. We were well looked after by the charming and helpful caretakers. Fiddlers Green is a wonderful holiday home in a fantastic location.

Fantastic views over the estuary, always something to watch. Village centre easy to reach through well maintained (and lit) gardens. House cosy, well equipped and very clean. Maybe getting slightly tired in places. Also sitting room furniture could be more comfortable. That said, would not hesitate to return/recommend.
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the OwnersThe owners very much appreciated your kind comments about the property but noted your comments about the furniture in the sitting room. They thought you would like to know that they have now ordered a new sofa. We do hope you will return to Fiddlers Green in the future.

Enjoyed a great week in this fantastic house. Lots to do in the area. House location is great, our only wish was for some sitting chairs more comfortable to the older generation!
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages on behalf of the OwnersThe Owners were delighted that you had such an enjoyable holiday at Fiddlers Green. However they noted your comment, as well as those of other guests, about the sitting room furniture and have asked us to let you know that they have just ordered a lovely new sofa. We do hope you will make a return visit at some point in the future.

We all hugely enjoyed our stay at Fiddlers Green and were delighted at the elevated position the house occupies giving the best, panoramic views of the whole St Mawes Bay and entrance to the Fal Estuary. With its capacious balcony and garden terraces it was a joy just to sit in the sun with a glass of wine and watch the boats coming and going! The house is very well equipped with top quality fixtures and fittings, appliances etc. and everything had been thought of so we needed nothing. The terraced gardens are beautiful and very well maintained, making a lovely walk on the steps/path up and down to the village.

I arrived here alone and wandered round trying to decide which bedroom to take. The rest of my guests when they arrived ,were delighted with the accommodation.Very sociable kitchen/diner.Sorry about all the empty bottles! We did have a good time. Only criticism there needs to be some form curtain/blind in the room where the cot was.Other than that splendid.

Guest from Stafford stayed at Fiddlers Green for 7 nights in May
We enjoyed our stay, but the lounge furniture was mainly cane chairs that were very uncomfortable, as was the large sofa where the cushions were well worn and soft. There was little garden furniture to allow us to enjoy the beautiful outside area. A BBQ would have added to our experience. We did enjoy and would have returned but the rental rise next year we felt was excessive.
Reply from Cornwalls Cottages LtdWe are sorry that you did not find Fiddlers Green comfortable and we do find this surprising given the comments of others, but we appreciate certain types of furniture might not appeal to all. In terms of the prices for 2016, please bear in mind that the Owners have undertaken substantial works at the property, making the upstairs disabled friendly and extending the capacity to 11 people at some expense. We have to reflect that in the pricing for next year and also to recognise that the property sits in one of the premium locations in Cornwall as noted by many other reviews. We also note that your party is only 6 people and you might be better suited to a smaller property at lower prices. We do feel it is important to make guests aware why there has been a price rise.

Fiddlers Green does have the 'wow' factor. When walking in you immediately see through the front windows to the amazing view which is from St Mawes to St Anthony's head and out to sea ...... fantastic! The house is beautifully appointed, well equipped and, on our arrival, spotlessly clean. The location is excellent, with a footpath down through well kept gardens to the quiet road leading to the village which is a short stroll away. We were a party of 4 couples so looked for somewhere with en-suite facilities for each bedroom and Fiddlers Green offered those facilities. There is a lot to do and see in the area, all you need is good weather with we were very lucky to have.

We spent a wonderful week in this glorious house. The views are incredible and it was a delight to watch the shipping going by as we relaxed in great comfort. The house was ideal for our grandson of 17 months and he was quite safe on the balcony enjoying the sunshine and spotting the yachts and the Falmouth ferry! The accommodation allowed us great privacy and space, we were a 2 generational family of 4 + toddler but there would be plenty of room for more occupants. The fact that you have parking and car access at all times is also a bonus in St Mawes. The garden is lovely and beautifully kept. The path (steep steps) through the garden to the road to the village is so handy - although be careful what you buy as going back up was quite a work out with heavy bags! Fiddlers Green is a truly magnificent house, very well equipped and appointed for a holiday home and we cannot recommend it highly enough. We will be back - hopefully next year.

Stunning views towards St Anthony's lighthouse whatever the weather will stay with us. Fiddlers green is light, airy and comfortable. It is warm and cosy and very well equipped with utensils aplenty. We stayed as a family group of 10 and it suited perfectly from the 10 year old to the 89 year old. I would definitely visit again.

A homely, spacious and extremely comfortable house with spectacular views over St Mawes and the sea beyond. The balcony proved to be a very popular place to sit and dream whilst watching the sailing boats and larger ships passing by. All rooms were well equipped and the garden, although steep, provided a short cut into the village which was a 5 minute walk away. The caretakers were very pleasant, helpful and efficient and we were also pleased to meet the owner. 4 generations of our family loved this house and hope to be back soon.

Guest from Bridport stayed at Fiddlers Green for 14 nights in August
It is impossible to describe the beauty of Fiddlers Green. The house is tranquil, comfortable and so relaxing. The view is mesmerising and there is so much to watch as boats, large and small come in and out of harbour. To sit on the balcony and watch the sun rise in the morning and the moon across the water at night is amazing. All rooms in the house share this panorama, from St Mawes Castle across to Falmouth Castle so no matter what the weather It is a wonderful place to be. The accommodation is shabby chic, pretty and very comfortable, a combination of old and new furniture, lovely en suite bathrooms, with white, fluffy towels and excellent beds and bedding. The garden Is beautifully landscaped and very well tended with lots of different plants. It is steep with several sets steps down to the road which leads down to St Mawes, At night the steps and paths are well lit. There is also a steep access drive but there is plenty of parking with just a short steep path to the front door. The housekeepers were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The booking process was easy and efficient and the whole holiday most enjoyable.

we were looking for a house that would suit all our family from my mum and dad who are in their 80's to our grandchildren who are 4 and 1.5yrs and this house fitted that bill and some. we were 9 in total and there were sufficient bedrooms and bathrooms for all to have private facilities including one on the ground floor which meant the grandparents didnt need to be up and down stairs. the house is exactly as the photos, it is beautifully furnished and equipped and the views are breathtaking. there are a lot of steps in the quite steep garden but we knew that and the youngest member of the party was confined to house and balcony so he didnt fall anywhere. the beds are super comfy and all the appliances of top quality; nothing has been overlooked, even hairdryers in all the bedrooms! there are so many places to sit inside and out that you can always find a quiet corner or somewhere sunny or somewhere in the shade, something for everyone. did I mention the views - they are stunning and available from virtually every room even from the bath!

We really enjoyed our holiday at Fiddler's Green. The ambience of the house and its amazing views exceeded all our expectations in every respect. The photographs on the website don't really do it justice - it's 'WOW' from the moment you turn in to the driveway and it just gets better. The tea tray laden with scones, jam and clotted cream was a lovely surprise welcome to Fiddler's Green. We look forward to returning for another holiday as soon as we can.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fiddlers Green especially as the weather was very good throughout our holiday. I have only one criticism and that was the ban on dogs. We have a very clean well behaved small dog which the agents said we could not bring , We requested that the agents ask the owners if we could bring the dog. As I understand it no such request was made. If the dog ban is lifted I would go again.
Reply from CornwallsCottages.co.ukMany thanks for your quite wonderful review of Fiddlers Green. We are sorry you cannot bring your dog to this property. Whilst we are sure your dog is immaculately behaved, the Owners are not doggie people and they would like to keep their property dog free. With the cream carpets at both ground and lower ground floors, it is not a great property for dogs. Unfortunately, under no circumstances would the dog ban be lifted. Thanks again for your lovely review.

Lovely house in an excellent location with breathtaking views of St Mawes and the Fal Esturary. We were a party of 6 including 2 elderly ladies (80+). The house was ideal as all of the 4 bathrooms had walk-in showers and one of the bedrooms is on the main living room floor which obviated the need to use stairs. The house is very well equipped, particularly in the kitchen, where there are plenty of knives, utensils, cookware and crockery. We enjioyed our stay very much and may well book again next year.

I didn't have time for a bath but I sat in it fully clothed to make sure I didn't miss the view. Thank you for this wonderful haven, it made our unpredicted dash to Cornwall much better.

Wish we could stay longer, but commitments say no. We will be back!! House and views wonderful.

The breathtaking views are literally quite that. We have enjoyed our stay thoroughly and will be deeply saddened to leave. St Mawes is a beautiful village filled with lovely helpful people. When we leave we will take with us many a happy memory. However in the words of Dr Seuss "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened'.

We have had such a fantastic stay in this gorgeous house. The views are stunning, St Mawes is charming and we've even been blessed with beautiful weather. The children have loved it too. They have taken to crabbing in a big way and we all loved Porthcurnick beach. It will be hard to leave but we take many happy memories away with us. Many thanks.

We have enjoyed this lovely house with its stunning views - it will be hard to leave tomorrow. Watching the world go by on the water has become a delightful pastime for the whole family - especially in the sunshine. The perfect place to unwind and leave the cares of the world behind. Thank you.

What a week's break! Endless sunshine, stunning views, sparkling blue skies reflected in glassy blue seas and nature's boundless beauty displayed before us for our pleasure from every window, door and balcony. Sheer bliss enhanced by the spacious, easy luxury that is Fiddlers Green. We - some of us - enjoyed a perfect week's holiday with a wide variety of things to do and see for the restless or enjoy the pleasure of just watching the rest of the seafaring world sail by! We shall be back! Many, many thanks.

The Youngs & Handslips, May 2013
If Fiddlers Green was the name of a paint we can confirm that it exceeds what it says on the tin! The green would be from the garden designer's fingers but the orchestration of the building, landscape, sea and sun befits not a mere fiddler rather the composer of a fabulous holiday experience culminating in cries of ENCORE from our quartet. Many thanks for a great time.

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors.

A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer. St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads.

There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place Ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth.

Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes’ walk including a well-stocked Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butchers, and art, book and clothes shops. The village also has a doctor’s surgery and a dentist’s surgery.
