Claire from Stourport-on-severn stayed at Harbour Retreat for 7 nights in October
We were delighted with Harbour Retreat. We use holiday lets 2 or 3 times per year and it?s rare they are as clean or well maintained as Harbour Retreat. It really is a lovely property; nice and bright and cosy, with a superb view and so central. We thought the décor was great. Also, we loved all of the extra little touches, such as the cream tea. Everything was handled so professionally and it was a breath of fresh air not to have a long list of rules in the welcome pack. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

Great location with lovely view from balcony......although harbour obscured by roof of building in front. Apartment excellent boutique style with top end kitchen / bathroom fittings, etc. St Mawes is beautiful with some great walking from the apartment or ferry ride to Place and St Anthony's Head. Some great pubs, restaurant within 100 metres from the apartment. Also an excellent butcher and Coop store nearby.

Deborah from Holmfirth stayed at Harbour Retreat for 7 nights in July
The best self catering property we have ever stayed in! A great view of the harbour, but just far enough away to be able to sit in private on the balcony, beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and with some lovely touches. Five stars all round! We would definitely hope to return again one day soon.

Raymond from Taunton stayed at Harbour Retreat for 7 nights in July
A lovely apartment set in a very central location at the heart of St. Mawes. The apartment is very well furnished with quality furniture, fittings and lovely comfy bed. Great view from the front over the bay. In fact the only downside to this property is getting your luggage into it, particularly if you are not overly young or fit. The nearest you can get your car is about about 100 yds. away. Apart from the access it's a great place with all the local shops, pubs and restaurants and the ferry to Falmouth on your doorstep. It's a good base from which to tour the local countryside.

What a wonderful apartment! You can tell the owners have put a lot of care and attention into ensuring you have everything you need on hand. The welcome treats in the fridge were a lovely touch and much appreciated after a long drive! The location is superb and we had a thoroughly enjoyable weeks stay in this beautiful part of the UK. We loved it that much that we've already booked to return next year!!

Tony from Macclesfield stayed at Harbour Retreat for 7 nights in June
We could not have wished for a more relaxing and comfortable holiday. Not only was the weather excellent, the apartment met every expectation, not only in its comfort and decor, but its location was ideal. The view from the French windows was a delight and to open the fridge on arrival to find Emma had left a cream tea for us was a very pleasant surprise. There are various restaurants and pubs within a very short walk, together with a butchers, bakery, deli, post office and supermarket. We didn't use the car except for one day and found the ferries easy to use and very convenient for getting around. The car park is a two minute walk away.overall an excellent apartment, which we can thoroughly recommend. We aim to return next year.

Upon arrival we found the apartment to be in pristine condition and everything we needed was in the apartment, it was very comfortable and the view was great, the location was ok but would be difficult for elderly or infirm people to get to. could not fault Harbour retreat and will defiantly return.

St Mawes is a great place for us to stay with plenty to do and a variety of boat trips. Good local food and interesting shops. The parking is well organised too. It has the most stunning outlook which changes with the different light on the water. The flat was ideal. It was near all amenities and had an excellent view from the main room and one of the bedrooms. It was well appointed and very comfortable.

Suzanne from Bath stayed at Harbour Retreat for 7 nights in April
Harbour Retreat is a beautiful apartment with great views and Emma, the owner, made us feel very welcome with a note pinned to the fridge and scones, jam & cream in the fridge on arrival. The dual aspect open plan living/kitchen/dining room with balcony is a very peaceful space. The layout of the property is perfect, each room is finished to a very high standard and the property was immaculately clean. We absolutely loved this apartment and St Mawes has everything you need. Having a chinese meal delivered by boat on the Wednesday evening was fantastic. Loved it, would definitely stay again. We rent holiday properties in Cornwall 3 times a year and this is one of the very best we've had the pleasure of staying in.

We spent a week at Harbour Retreat early April. Beautiful goodies awaited us which was most appreciated. The flat is so well furnished and lovely contemporary feel. Perfectly situated. Lovely views. Owners were great when unfortunately I was taken ill one day and had a hospital visit. They popped in to check on us which was much appreciated. We will definitely return! Thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment in our favourite part of the world.

Had a most enjoyable 5 days in Harbour Retreat with our friends. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Nice touch to provide a welcoming cream tea - yummy. Also so pleased they allowed well behaved dogs - huge bonus. Convenient situation in the village - near to shops, pubs and restaurants. Have been visiting St Mawes for over 50 years and this was one of the nicest apartments we have rented. Would definitely book again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my break at Harbour Retreat and couldn't of asked for anywhere nicer to have stayed. The apartment itself is finished to an extremely high standard, it was incredibly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly want and more - the owners really have thought of everything! The location is amazing and the owners have really put a lot of effort into this place to make you feel welcome and relaxed. I would definitely recommend Harbour retreat to anyone, as I could not fault it in any way.

Our first family holiday was excellent at Harbour Retreat. The apartment was perfect for us with the facilities very amenable to bringing a baby. The setting is stunning and the stylish decor made it feel a luxury break at a good price. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. St Mawes itself was lovely with good places to eat an early dinner and a delicious bakery.

Customer testimonials

Harbour Retreat is a beautifully renovated property; the living area is bright and superbly finished and detailed and, along with the master bedroom, has fabulous views of the quay. If the plan for your holiday is relaxation then try sitting by the open French doors with a glass of wine watching the bustle of a busy village harbour, little blue passenger ferries heading over to Falmouth and the sound of waves lapping against the harbour wall.

St Mawes is one of Cornwall's most desirable holiday destinations and the stunning harbour surrounded by lovely local shops, restaurants, bars and hotels is a constant bustle of vibrancy during the season. There is a never ending variety of boating to keep the view changing - kayaks paddling out of the harbour, regular ferry passenger services to Falmouth and other destinations up the Fal estuary, the constant bustle of sailing boats, both large and small, and shipping movements further out to sea will keep all amused. During the winter it is a quiet, peaceful village that rarely sees frosts or snow.

The kitchen has fully fitted units, there are comfortable sofas, a dining table and French doors that open out onto a small balcony. A further door leads to the master bedroom with 5' bed with wardrobe and views of the harbour. A further door leads to the en-suite shower room with WC and hand basin.

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer.

St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Hotel Tresanton) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes’ walk including a Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butcher, baker and art & clothes shops. The village also has both a doctor’s and a dentist’s surgery.

Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.
