Frank from Essen stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 7 nights in August
We had a wonderful week in August 2017 and would be more than happy to be back soon. Everyone we met was friendly, obviously the English love dogs. The Cottage contains everything you need, but what else do you need than a teapot and the outlook from inside and outside? If I was an artist I would have painted the view! Thank you very much for the opportunity to stay at the Caddydaw Cottage.

Pietro from Uzwil stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 7 nights in July
Lovely cottage on an amazing location. We loved to sit in front of the house having breakfast with view over the pittoresk habour. We really enjoyed the coastpath with stunning seaview as to relax at evening in front of the logburner. It wasn't our first stay and we hope it has not been our last ! We already miss Caddydaw-Cottage. Kind regards from Switzerland.

Michael from Taunton stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 7 nights in May
Caddydaw cottage is set in an idyllic location overlooking the harbour in Portloe. The cottage is cosy nicely furnished, the living room has a small sofa and a couple of Errol easy chairs. The TV has free view but not many channels can be accessed. The kitchen has Errol 'Windsor' table and chairs and overlooks the harbour. One bedroom has a king size bed which is very comfortable, the two single beds in the other bedroom as extremely hard! The cottage is ideally situated for those who enjoy walking the coastal path, as it is just outside the door. There are plenty of attractions within a few miles I.e. Helligan and the Eden project.

Caddydaw is a nice cottage and the location and views are lovely. Beware though, the neighbours are unfriendly and do not like dogs.
Reply from Sue HarrisonWe are and continue to be very pet friendly. Unfortunately in this instance the guest allowed their dog to fowl on neighbours' land without clearing it up hence why they complained.

Carrie from Rugeley stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 7 nights in February
A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The views from the bedroom make it tempting never to get up each day! But with coastal cliff walks, empty beaches and lovely villages it's well worth forcing yourself. The cottage itself is very private and quiet. It is beautifully decorated with inspiring art on the walls. And tea and cake on arrival! We (including our dog) loved it. How I wish we were back there now.

Michele from South Brent stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 4 nights in January
Very special location right on the edge of the cliff, although the footpath is just in front of you, so people occasionally passing but well fenced. Thoroughly recommend, everything you would need ....has been considered...the owners even supply all the coal and firelighters and kindling ...nothing worse than arriving in the winter to find no fuel for the wood burner or matches ! Sea views from every window and cosy and warm in each room . Table and chairs at the front in fenced off garden overlooking the sea and harbour, which catch the late morning/ midday winter sun. But also lovely top garden with magnificent views and a bit more privacy in the summer months from the footpath. Superb walks both ways along the coast path and inland, we didn't move the car from the car park...but we did take quite a lot of provisions and there is a pub and very nice hotel in the harbour! All very relaxing and beautiful night skies, sunsets and the sound of the sea to lull you to sleep. Don't hesitate to book you won't be disappointed

had a very relaxing time at Caddydaw cottage. We have been to Portloe three times now & this was the best cottage we have rented, it has a perfect location with great views and is ideally located for National Trust coastal walks. We were also able to take our dog to the cottage which was perfect for us. The local pub The Ship Inn had lovely pub food & dogs also welcome. We would happily return to this cottage. Thank you to the owner.

Angela from stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 4 nights in November
We couldn't fault the position of this cottage, right next to the coast path and with delightful views over the small harbour at Portlooe. The only downside is that there is nowhere to park nearby, the nearest car park being a few minutes walk up the hill, and the closest dropping off point for passengers/luggage is a long and windy walk down a path, with a wheelbarrow to help transporting luggage/shopping back and fro. Bt it was worth it. We would certainly stay again. The beds are comfortable, and while the bathroom and kitchen are fairly basic they are clean and perfectly useable. The living room is cosy, with a small log burner, and there are gardens front and back to sit out in when the weather is good (which it wasn't in November!)

Once again we had a wonderful holiday at caddydaw. As you walk through the door you immediately relax. I don't think you could get a better view from a bedroom and the sound of the sea on the rocks creates the perfect place to unwind. Portloe is a beautiful little harbour tucked away like a hiddenj jewel. We found more great beaches and places to eat this time None too far away. I think this is a place we will always come back to. We had a sunny holiday in Caddydaw Cottage in Portloe. The location is superb, next to the SW coast path and close to a pub and a restaurant. The views from kitchen and bedroom are excellent. From the garden, we even saw dolphins swimming! The house is comfortable and well equipped. We and our children (9 and 7) loved walking along the coast, swimming in the portloe harbour and all the stunning beaches nearby. We experienced the Roseland pennninsula at its best.

Joy from Wimborne stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 7 nights in June
We were delighted with the artistic interior design, carefully chosen to reflect the gorgeous colours outdoors. The quality of furnishings, paintings and photographs were superb. The cottage held everything needed, and more, ie thoughtful additions such as extra cushions on window seats. Each aspect had been considered to make this a comfortable stay. There was a sense of generosity in the quality of accessories, that added to the comfort and enjoyment of our wonderful week. Watching the sun go down on the terrace, or sitting in the garden behind were times we will never forget. Highly recommended.

Andrew from Bexhilll-on-sea stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 4 nights in March
Fantastic location, cosy accommodation. Really appreciated the thoughtful little touches. The tray laid with teapot, jug (milk in the fridge) servettes and cake. Everything needed for a glorious Woodburner fire. Great selection of books on Cornwall (started reading an interesting biography so ordered it from library on return home). Selection of toiletries. Loved the pictures on the walls makes it feel very homely. The views are unbelievable, no photo/ video does it justice.  Lovely walks..... The Ship inn a short walk away. Can't remember the last time I had a steak so tasty (welcoming roaring fire).  Fantastic meal at the Rising sun, St Maws, best fish and chips ever - absolutely enormous. Lots of winding, country lanes, amazing scenery. Would love to come back in warmer weather (unfortuately  fully booked this year). To be so extemely comfortable and relaxed in such a quaint cottage in the middle of exquisite breathtaking surroundings.... Shere PARADISE!!!!!! ? Sent from Samsung tablet

The perfect winter retreat. A beautiful cottage in a stunning location with wonderful views of the seascape and pretty harbour. The local pub, The Ship, was excellent. Good food and the staff and locals were so warm and friendly we felt we belonged in Portloe. The local store in veryan was great too. It stocked everything we needed and much more - even a delicious Indian meal imported from Truro to rival those we had in Delhi on our Januarty holiday last year. All in all we had a five star time and we will definitely be revisiting. Thank you.

Kat from Leatherhead stayed at Caddydaw Cottage for 7 nights in December
We had a fabulous Xmas at Caddydaw Cottage by the fire, with magnificent views of the sea and Portloe harbour. Exposed to the elements - ie hearing and seeing the impact of gale force winds and a very dramatic sea - yet safe, warm, comfy and secure - that's exactly what we hoped it would be like and we were not disappointed! Our dog loved it as well and was very happy with the location ie spacious garden and no cars around. We'll be back at a different time of the year to hopefully experience milder weather but on the whole it was a very pleasant stay indeed, even with loads of rain. The coastal path is right there with stunningly beautiful views on both sides, one of which leads to the amazing beach of Carne - highly recommended when the tide is low. Thanks for a lovely stay!

So lucky with the weather. May is a perfect time - everywhere fresh and so many flowers and blossoms out. Caddydaw is always special. Many thanks - looking forward to our Autumn visit!

What a lovely spot! Beautiful location and lovely house. Enjoyed drinking tea in bed watching the boats. Thanks very much.
The Blakes, Apr 2015
Despite the mixed weather, we had a most enjoyable stay here in this cozy house with its unspoiled view. If we ever come again to Cornwall, Caddydaw would/should be our place. (Next time we would listen here to Dylan Thomas Under Milkwood in the original BBC recording with Richard Burton; there is no better place for it, I believe).
Helga, Munich, Oct 2014
As always - thank you for another perfect holiday at Caddydaw. Already looking forward to our Spring visit!

Floor plans will appear here shortly.

Caddydaw is one of those quintessential Cornish cliff top cottages that you dream of finding. Perched above the village of Portloe with only pedestrian access to it, this is a lovely, comfortable and incredibly atmospheric place to stay. Small, cosy and full of charm and character with the benefit of double glazing. Lying in bed you can watch the fishermen in the harbour below or look far out to sea towards Gull Rock. The Ship Inn and Lugger Hotel are a short stroll away.

The cottage has a living room and kitchen with dining table on the ground floor.

There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. Caddydaw is reached from the road by approximately 150 yard/metre paved footpath from a lay-by where you can unload. The village car park is approximately 100 metres/yards from the lay-by.

Accommodation (all rooms with sea views):
Ground Floor: A stable door opens on to the sitting room with an original inglenook fireplace and multi-fuel stove. The separate fully fitted kitchen with a dining table has an old waxed dresser containing all the china.
First Floor: The master bedroom with king-size bed, corner wardrobe and chest of drawers is a lovely place to wake up in! The two windows frame glorious views. The second bedroom has twin beds, wardrobe, chests of drawers and a window seat with views over the harbour. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC and basin. Please be aware that access to the first floor is up quite a narrow staircase that is typical of a cottage of this age.
Exterior: In front of the cottage is a sunny graveled terrace with furniture. Above the cottage there is a terraced, secluded lawn area with ‘the best views in the village’. The garden is enclosed but it would not be too hard for a keen dog to escape. There are BBQ facilities for which you will need to provide your own charcoal.

Facilities and Services
Heating is from dual night storage heaters, panel heaters and multi-fuel stove (coal is provided). The kitchen has electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge / freezer and opens onto the utility/lobby area with a washing machine, iron and ironing board. The sitting room has a digital TV, DVD player and radio. There is WiFi available.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, coal, bed linen and towels are included, but you will need to bring your own beach towels. One well behaved dog is permitted at the small additional cost of £30 per week. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. A cot and high chair are available.

General Booking Information
Arrival/Departure is normally a Friday.
Short breaks are available during quieter periods.
£150 pre-authorised to your credit/debit card as a security deposit is required.

Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valleys has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages".

Portloe is an ideal place to stay on the Roseland Peninsula. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet it has a really good local pub & hotel. The village itself is only a short drive from the other villages such as St Mawes. The city of Truro is also within a 25 minute drive. The Lugger Hotel with its excellent restaurant is only a few steps away and the Ship Inn is a short walk. The New Inn at Veryan serves food. There is also the Portloe Tea Room nearby. There is no general store in Portloe, however there are shops at Veryan (1.4 miles) and a Londis store at Bessy Beneath (3 miles). Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.
