Mark from Langport stayed at Karadow Cottage for 7 nights in August
An excellent base for our holiday with great facilities and hosts. There is everything that you could need to provide along with all home comforts, even if the wifi wasn't as reliable as the kids prefer. Lovely bed linen and towels and the whole place is kept in excellent order. Loads of local walks to enjoy and the beaches are generally unspoilt and clean with the exception of Porthcurnick which had rubbish and dog mess everywhere - the single blot on the landscape. Best and most interesting beaches are Towan and Porthbean. The church and graveyard at St Just is essential visiting. Fantastic views across The Carrick Roads from Messack Point. Highly recommended accommodation - thanks!

Martin from Wakefield stayed at Karadow Cottage for 7 nights in August
We enjoyed a fantastic week at Karadow. After a long journey we were met by the owners. The cottage is spacious inside and provided plenty of outdoor space for our three young children. The cottage is very well equipped and a comfortable base for a family. We enjoyed the peaceful, tucked away location which was ideal for exploring nearby beaches and villages. A great place to stay with many beautiful places to visit not far away.

The cottage is spacious and comfortable. The owners gave us a warm welcome, cake and tea were awaiting us. The cottage is wonderfully located. Stunningly beautiful walks start directly from the cottage. The view from Messack point over the Carrick Roads is breathtaking. Overall a lovely property and the only suggestion we would make is that the bathrooms would benefit from updating. James and Elsie were particularly helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Really comfortable, clean and spacious accommodation in beautiful location. Owners very approachable, friendly and helpful. Everything we needed was there. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet break . Local pubs, eateries all excellent. Good location for many wonderful days out to local villages, beaches and nearby attractions. The best accommodation we have had in many years of sampling the British countryside/seaside.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Karadow Cottage near St. Just, and found it an excellent place from which to explore Roseland.

If you have time for a short walk you must walk to Messack Point to see the wonderful views over the estuary to Falmouth - and if you're lucky you might meet some very cute sheep along the way!
Anne, Ted, Paula & Jackie , Sep 2011
Our fourth visit to Messack, and we are looking forward to number 5! Do not miss the stunning beach at Porbeor - you could be in St Kitts on a good day! Enjoyed lunch at The Victory in St Mawes (upstairs), also at The New Inn in Veryan and The Kings Head in Ruan Lanihorn. Elsie and James, as ever, delightful hosts. Many thanks!

The village of St Just in Roseland is located about 2 miles north of St Mawes. A small village, it has a pretty creek and the quite delightful church and wonderful churchyard. No visit to the Roseland is complete without seeing this peaceful place. Probably the only sub tropical churchyard in the British Isles, it is a beautiful & tranquil place with some unique flora. The creek is home to a boatyard and not much else! Although the beaches are of shingle, you can reach some great sunbathing spots from here with some wonderful views over the water towards Mylor.

Nearby, you can explore the D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Bar and nearby Smugglers Cottage which also houses a little display. It is also is one of the best spots in the area for a cream tea!! The walks around Messack Point on the north side of St Just in Roseland Creek offer some of the finest views across the Carrick Roads.

The tiny tranquil Cornish village of Philleigh is nearby and is famous for its sixteenth cetury pub, The Roseland Inn. St Mawes & Portscatho are within 10 minutes of Karadow Cottage and offer some lovely beaches & plenty of watersports. Portscatho has a good general store, a Post Office plus a couple of pubs & restaurants at the nearby hotels. St Mawes has plenty of facilities including a few hotels with fine restaurants including the famous Hotel Tresanton, plus a few pubs, a good Co-op general store, a butchers, chemist & post office.
