We had a lovely time but would have thought at the very least the owners could have installed shower mixer taps to the bathroom to provide a basic shower facility The outside shower room was dirty and not somewhere a reasonable person would use

Lynne from York stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 7 nights in September
Mizpah Cottage is a lovely place for a holiday. It was spotless on arrival & milk and biscuits were appreciated after a long journey. It is possibly the best equipped cottage we have stayed in, the only thing lacking is a shower oved the bath but that didn't spoil our sfay. We enjoyed the peace & quiet, sitting in the quaint garden, seeing the bats at dusk and hearing an owl hooting very near by. All in all a perfect country cottage.

We very much liked the cottage which was comfortable, clean, quiet and well located. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay and was great value . The only criticism was lack of a shower and it was difficult to park outside .

Carole from Hambridge stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 4 nights in April
I really enjoyed our time spent at Mizpath, this homely cottage was cosy but roomy upstairs. The dining room was great with flag stone floor. The cottage garden with sea views which you can see from the bedroom was enchanting. Time has stood still here, it was like taking a step back. I like that the owners haven't changed structural features this adds to the atmosphere of the place. For those wanting solitude with a for legged friend you wont be disappointed! When the sun is shining you can pass the time away in the garden or a quiet walk through this quiet village. They have Wifi and TV so everything for an evening in. Looking forward to visiting Mezpath again in the near future.

Philip from Wellington stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 7 nights in October
We had stayed at Mizpah 20 years ago and adored it; it was tastefully furnished and every comfort addressed; there was a personal feel to it so we were very much looking forward to returning. Although the charm of the place still exists it is no longer the home from home it once was. It was essentially clean throughout but necessary items were either sparse or non existent eg. Toilet rolls, hand wash and dishwasher tablets. The curtains were the same as 20 years ago but now faded and shabby and the cushions were mildewed. The cooker, washing machine and dishwasher had seen better days ; the dials were worn and no instructions could be found However the beds, linen and towels were excellent. It's a charming cottage but now has a business feel about it.

Lovely cottage. The cottage was very dusty, we had to clean behind the bed, sofas and shelves as my partner has a dust allergy. There was some damp on the walls in living room.

Guest from Malmesbury stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 7 nights in May
We love the Roseland and this cottage is in our ideal location. The property has lots of character and original features and is true to itself. If you are looking for somewhere peaceful with wonderful views, away from the modern world, then this cottage is perfect. If you like contemporary living, this may not be for you. For us, it was sheer heaven (despite not having perfect weather).

Mallory from Bristol stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 7 nights in April
Fantastic cottage in a great location, the garden is ideal for meals outside and a dog. Walks all round from the front door. Close enough to St Mawes and Portscatho for re-supplies but far enough away for peaceful walks.

Guest from Kendal stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 7 nights in September
Very well equipped, kitchen particularly. Stairs rather steep for us in our 70s,but manageable. Wonderful walks from the house and nearby. Lovely cliff paths and beaches, with marvellous views. Good pubs nearby, and lots of information about what to do, where to eat etc.Ideal spot for dogs. Bonus of fantastic weather all week. Service during stay:- We wanted to put NOT APPLICABLE because nobody (except neighbours) contacted us. We did not need any or expect it. Leave this off your records if you wish (but that is why we put OK because we could not enter N/A )

Guest from Bromyard stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 7 nights in July
Mizpah is a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. The other cottage owners in the row are very friendly and helpful. The only tiny comment I could make is that the garden furniture needs a bit of an overhaul and our mattress I found particularly firm! But overall we had a super stay and will be back!

Guest from Wiveliscombe stayed at Mizpah Cottage for 3 nights in March
A lovely cottage in a perfect location. Loved the sweet garden and views of the sea. Great white company bed linen, and a brilliant DVD collection - well chosen. My only negative was that only a tiny bit of loo roll was provided and no dish cloths and not even any coal to get a fire started on the first night. I understand that all those things are up to the occupier to buy, but hard to think of everything when you go on holiday, I think the minimum of these thing should have been there. We would love to return one day and would recommend to friends, but warn them to take loo roll and coal!!! Many thanks

We love this cottage! Warm, very comfortable beds, and generally home from home without any stress! We are looking to book again really soon.

Just to say how much we loved our week in Mizpah Cottage, what a lovely place! We'll definitely go there again!
The Westons , Oct 2011
Thank you for a lovely holiday in Mizpah. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and the location and the enclosed garden was especially good for our dog. The rooms were light and airy and we particularly liked the old range in the dining room.
A Rapp, Sep 2010

In the sleepy village of Bohortha, located high on a ridge on the St Anthony Headland lies the sleepy hamlet of Bohortha. Made up of a cluster of cottages & a farm, this is the perfect place to escape from reality and enjoy the true beauty of the idyllic Roseland Peninsula. Mizpah is located at the end of a row of fishermen's cottages accessed by a short footpath from where the road runs out. Enjoy glimpses of the sea in distant views from the first floor bedrooms and step out of your door onto stunning walks. Or escape with the kids to the nearby beaches - it is possible to walk to Towan Beach but only takes a few minutes in the car.

This is a traditional Cornish cottage which has been quietly upgraded by its loving Owners. It is full of character with a wonderful dining room boasting a lovely old cast iron range with brass fittings and a bread oven (sadly not in use!) and a flagstone floor. The cosy fireplace and electric central heating will keep you warm during the wild winter evenings and the lovely garden has plenty of space to enjoy during the summer.

Accommodation
Ground Floor: Lounge with open fireplace, dining room, newly fitted kitchen, external WC with electric shower.
First Floor: Master double bedroom (with kingsize bed) with distant views, twin room, very small box room with a bunk bed (only suitable for young children) and a family bathroom with bath and WC.
Exterior: Large grassed garden. There is a further lawn garden beyond with views to the sea. Teak garden table and chairs are provided together with a BBQ.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via electric central heating and the open fire (coal only please) in the lounge. The kitchen was newly fitted in the Autumn of 2009 and includes a lovely limestone floor, fully fitted units, electric oven & hob, microwave, fridge / freezer, dishwasher & washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge has a flat screen recording TV, DVD & CD player. WiFi internet is available at the cottage. There is a telephone available for emergency & incoming calls.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, bed linen & towels are all included, but you will need to provide your own beach towels. Access to Mizpah is via the gardens of the adjoining property or a path to the rear. Parking is on the lane approx 50m from cottage. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional cost of £20 per dog / per week although please remember that you cannot leave dogs unattended in the cottage alone. We regret no smoking is permitted. There is a cot and high chair available upon request. There is a stairgate at the top of the stairs.

£100 security deposit is required to be pre-authorised on your card.

Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick and Towan are simply idyllic and are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.

Mizpah is about 8 minutes drive along the St Anthony Headland from Portscatho, in the little hamlet of Bohortha. The beaches at Towan and St Anthony are only a short drive away (about 1mile). Please do have a look at the location map for a more detailed idea of the position. The St Anthony Headland walks can be taken straight from the cottage. You can also walk to the Place Ferry landing stage where during the day you can catch the boat to St Mawes. In the evenings, there is a water taxi available (booking essential).
