This 19th century village house is located on a quiet terrace in the centre of St Mawes, literally a few steps from the harbour with lovely sea views over the harbour and the bay. It has been completely refurbished to a very high standard. There is a private patio deck to the rear which is a real sun trap. Pirate Cottage is a quite superb house which could not be more centrally located in the village.
Discounts available for 4 people or less staying for 7 nights outside the peak season, using the main house only.

Philippa from Northampton stayed at Pirate Cottage for 7 nights in September
Second trip to St Mawes and second stay in Pirate Cottage with no real complaints at all. The only feedback I would give is that the information pack requires some updating in particular regarding the parking costs and how to use the machine, and more importantly the updated code to actually get into the key safe... Apart from those little glitches, everything was just as comfortable and relaxing as before - definitely recommend and will definitely be back again.

Lucy from Bristol stayed at Pirate Cottage for 5 nights in August
We loved staying at Pirate Cottage, the only thing was we were disappointed by the coffee drips on paint work, cobwebs that were dusty (so had been there a while!) approx 20 spiders and marks on the sofa that were easily removed (I know cos I removed them). I don't want to sound moany I just want someone to care a little bit more Pirate Cottage as it's wonderful. I will definately want to stay again but please just spend an extra 20 mins looking for the coffee drips and cobwebs xx

Jennie from Mill Lane stayed at Pirate Cottage for 7 nights in June
We stayed at the cottage on recommendation from a friend who stayed 4 years ago. What a disappointment! The cottage has an odour that greets you on arrival, the kitchen has a greasy works tops and upstands, in particularly behind the hob. The lounge has a great view but is let down by the grubby blanket left over the rocking chair, the numerous stains on the carpet and a red stain on the settee. TV in the dining room has no sound. The bathroom would benefit from an extractor as all of our cosmetics etc got very damp when you had a shower. No soap and not enough toilet roll for the occupancy, had to buy more; these are basics that could be provided very cheaply. Behind the taps in bathroom was grubby and unattended to. The terrance is in need of some sweeping and clothes line that is functional and pegs that are not rusty. Holes in the umbrella, chairs not been touched for so long that you can't sit down without having to clean them with hot soapy water. I was looking forward to sitting on the terrance and relaxing. Don't provide/offer things if you can't keep them in good condition. It creates an expectation. All in all this property is in need of attention, the guest book says it all, its happened before. Over priced in my opinion and not suitable for sets of adult couples.

The situation of the cottage was ideal i.e. close to all amenities. Plenty of room for eight of us. Especially appreciated the annex! Could have done with a few more hand towels. Apart from that we had everything we needed.

We have rented this property on a couple of occasions, and find it a great location from which to explore the whole area. Handy for great local eating places, and a local food shop within 50 yards.

The hot water situation simply isn't working for 6 or more people in the cottage. You need to give more control of the timer to the occupants and ask them to be reasonable rather than just expect s to keep hitting the boost button. The shower in the house ran out of heat after just 2 showers. Also the battle against shower water getting all over the bathroom floor is being lost. You need to address this before the floor boards need replacing I think. The easy chairs for the front outside area need replacing with some more robust models (we used the terrace chairs in the end). This is the best place for relaxing with morning coffee and papers etc so its a shame the chairs provided aren't up to scratch. Annex still smells of damp but I guess there isn't much you can do about this given its location (we kept the windows open all the time). Maybe some internal de-humidifiers? Last niggle - again for the number of people there, you need a much bigger frying pan! Otherwise great - the terrace and the yard and side door work really well for all the wetsuits and damp stuff etc. The location is fabulous and the interior is wonderful. Will definitely come back again. Is there any chance we can bring our 2 small dogs and leave them in the yard and the small area between the kitchen and back door (i.e. not actually in the house)?

Sarah from Sale stayed at Pirate Cottage for 5 nights in July
Our stay at Pirate Cottage was perfect. The location is in the centre of picturesque St Mawes so a stone's throw from the harbour, restaurants, pubs etc. Beautiful sea views, lots of scenic walks straight out of the front door and close to the car park, it's a fabulous spot. The cottage itself is spacious and sleeps eight, including twin beds in a separate annex at the rear of the cottage, ideal for older children or grandparents. The decor is lovely and there is decking and a terrace at the bavk of the cottage that is s real suntrap. I can't recommend highly enough.

Pirate Cottage is perfectly situated for all to enjoy the delights of St Mawes. The House has plenty of space and with the sitting room upstairs you can enjoy the stunning view of St Mawes. Rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated so it really is a home from home with all of the mod cons that you need. The upper deck also provides excellent entertaining space and a BBQ! Would recommend this lovely house for a perfect stay in Cornwall.

Snapped up a last minute week at Pirate Cottage for a very reasonable low occupancy discount and have not regretted it for a second! Well equipped, clean and cosy this cottage has gorgeous views over the bay from the master bedroom and first floor lounge. Information and instructions supplied was generally clear and helpful and when we had cause to contact the property management company, Roseland Synergy, we were met with prompt responses. Perfectly located in the village, just a short trip down one of the hidden stone stairways between the houses finds you on the waterfront, equidistant to the gloriously sun drenched terrace of the Idle Rocks Hotel or the Harbour quay from which various boats depart at regular intervals for locations up and down the river Fal, including the St Mawes Ferry across the bay to Falmouth. Ideally suited to families as sleeps 8, for us, the only drawback would be that, if we were to come back with friends, the other bedrooms consist of 2 twins and 1 with bunks and so may not be entirely what couples are expecting... That said, we are definitely planning to come back on our own again as we came back feeling rested and refreshed :)

We had a great week in Pirate Cottage. The house is very well-appointed with good accommodation and wonderful views. It was in the ideal location too. Although the washing machine was replaced whilst we were there Gail did our teenagers' washing when they arrived a day later after a festival. Our only real gripe was the size of the kitchen bin - way too small for the size of the house!

I returned to St Mawes with some members of my family after a gap of nearly 25 years. Pirate Cottage suited us ideally in terms of facilities and location. The view from the cottage is quite stunning. We were fortunate with the weather and enjoyed a wonderful week. The good folk of St Mawes are very welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble. We shall return.

No issues with booking service, all went smoothly. We loved Pirate Cottage, it was everything we could have wished for. We often rent holiday cottages and it's not very often that the cottage meets or exceeds all our expectations.
Bernie Parry , Sep 2013
Despite some very cold March weather, we had a lovely, cozy time at Pirate cottage with our twin ten year old daughters. The house is set up perfectly for families, even large ones, with plenty of space and a large family room with a wonderful view of the sea. We enjoyed cooking in the well-supplied kitchen and eating in the adorable dining room with both a view and a fireplace. St. Mawes itself is a treat to visit. It is a tidy little town with great pubs and spectacular views. There is a bit of a drive to get out to the peninsula of St. Mawes, however, it is a lovely drive that we never tired of. We highly recommend this charming cottage.

We had a very good experience with your booking system and would certainly recommend your company to friends! Pirate Cottage was a perfect location and very comfortable. We all enjoyed the facilities provided.
R Burdon-Bailey, Oct 2011
The experience my family received was fanastic. The whole booking process was great and everytime I spoke to someone, the knowledge of both the area and property was amazing. The details about the property and area, were also really good. The property was in an amazing location, with great views. Unloading with the tight roads is a bit tricky. The property was very welcoming in fanastic condition, with everything you could probably wish for. We will be looking to book again for next year.

More details of Pirate Cottage at St Mawes Holiday Cottage

St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer.

St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place Ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes’ walk including a well-stocked Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butchers, and art, book and clothes shops. The village also has a doctor’s surgery and a dentist’s surgery.
