Chupra enjoys a lovely, quiet location in St Mawes, a five minute walk up a short (and a little steep) hill from the beautiful harbour in St Mawes. The house is all on one level and has views across Falmouth Bay to the entrance of the Helford River in the distance. The house has the benefit of 2 private parking spaces a short 50m away from the house along a footpath. The house is cosy in the winter with an open fire (logs and coal available from the local shop) and modern electric heating.

In the summer months Chupra really comes into its own with the lovely big private terrace and garden - a terrific place for all the family to enjoy. Fully enclosed, it becomes a total suntrap and enjoys evening sun until late. It is a great place to enjoy a BBQ! The house has been continually renovated over the years and benefits from granite worktops in the kitchen, double glazing throughout, a family bathroom and an additional shower room with a useful tiled entrance porch and utility room. This is a perfect place for a family holiday or just for a couple or two looking for a base to explore the beautiful Roseland Peninsula.

Ground Floor: Entrance into large porch with plenty of wardrobe space. The utility room is to the rear. Through to the main hall. The lounge / dining room has plenty of comfortable seating, an open fire place and lovely sea views. There is a sliding door onto the terrace. The kitchen is fully fitted, also with sea views and useful access to the terrace. The master double bedroom has a 5' double bed, followed by another double bedroom with a 4'6" bed both of which have sliding doors leading onto the terrace. The third bedroom is at the rear with zip & link beds (not pictured). This room will be made up as a twin unless requested as a double. All the bedrooms have washbasins. The family bathroom and shower room both have WCs.
Exterior: The fantastic terrace has a built in BBQ, large outside table and chairs. There are 2 lawned areas to the front on a split level and a lawn to the rear.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via night storage heaters and the open fire. The kitchen has a range of modern equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge / freezer and dishwasher. There is a separate utility area with a washing machine & tumble drier. The sitting room area has a flatscreen digital TV & DVD player. There is Superfast Infinity WiFi available at the property. There is an iron & ironing board.

Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. No smoking. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are permitted at the small additional cost of £30 per dog per week, although please remember that you cannot leave dogs unattended in the property alone. There is a cot & high chair available. 2 off road parking spaces are available approximately 50 metres from the house. These spaces are accessed via a short public footpath where you will need a torch at night. Access to the house is via the footpath from above (where the parking spaces are) or from a short footpath from the lane below the house. Although there are steps into the garden, access can be had over a grassed area for those who have difficulty with steps (if this route, just 2 steps into the house).

Cleanliness & location were great. One thing I found really irritating was not being able to access the property until 5pm and yet having to vacate at 10am. That is the best part of a day lost for which I had paid. When I raised this with the agents they simply said that is what always happens and gave me the number of the cleaners to discuss access directly with them. This is something the agent should sort out and overall very poor service.

A wonderful welcome and perfect stay in this very comfortable house which is in a great location. We loved it. Thank you.

Philip Mansfield

Was a wonderful few days stay in this very comfortable house. We appreciated it being warm when we arrived late and cold. Great location being a short walk from the harbour and shops. Thank you .

Rosemary Joel

We loved our stay in Chupra , the views were lovely and would be even better when they cut the hedges in front . It was , warm , cosey and had really comfy beds .My daughter in law is a little infirm and had difficulty getting up and down steps and my son had to bring the car below and run her down to the village as the lane is so steep so perhaps warning for future visitors would be good . Thank you for making us so welcome .St Mawes is our most favourite place !

The only negative about staying at Chupra is it’s distance from parking, so taking luggage in and out is tricky, however the upside is it’s lovely quiet location and proximity to St.Mawes itself. Perfect for four people, it has everything that one needs for a lovely time away. We will be going back!

We stayed in Chupra as our first holiday since welcoming our new baby to the family. It was a great space for us and our family dog to relax in. The location is ideal with the facilities of St Mawes within easy walking distance, and the outside space in particular was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have amazing weather for our stay and being able to throw open all of the doors at the front and be in the garden with the view of the sea was wonderful. Other reviews we read did mention the parking provision. It was fine for us, although unloading the car and carrying our kit down to the house was a bit of a task, but the flip side is that Chupra is in a delightfully secluded location and we weren't disturbed by passers by or road traffic. Having two parking spaces, albeit they are quite tight, is a luxury in St Mawes anyway, so that worked really well for us knowing that we could park in our own dedicated spaces. We had a great time and would definitely return for another stay.

Perfect place. Quiet location. Spacious and comfortable. Large garden. Great views out to sea and a sunny terrace for sitting and eating out. Just a short walk from the harbour, with a hill. Unless you have mobility problems, the footpath is no trouble. But do use the temporary parking at bottom of footpath for getting suitcases loaded at end of stay. Thank you for the welcome card, strawberries, and homemade sweets and biscuits (also milk).

Joanna Oldman

We had a wonderful week at Chupra. Many thanks to Mel and Alan who left us wine, homemade biscuits, including some for our dog, and flowers. The house was wam, very comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. We did have a problem with the access, mainly because I broke my ankle a couple of months ago, therefore the path up to the parking space was a problem, but we were able to load and unload our stuff from the lane. We would definitely book again.

Janet Real

A lovely well equipped bungalow. Everything you could want and thought about. Parking was fine for us...but would not suit elderly or people with mobility problems due to the pathway to walk to the bungalow. The two bathrooms and two double bedrooms were great as we were two couples. The kitchen was very well equipped. A lovely welcome was the bottle of Prosecco, biscuits and chocolates!! Also a pint of milk in the fridge... very thoughtful ... yes we wouldn’t hesitate on going back!

Lovely location, maybe a little more description on the path to the house would have been helpful, it's very dark at night and in bad weather extremely slippy. The car park spaces are tight and I would imagine a 4x4 or wide cars would struggle. Lovely views and rooms, not many would have been nice to have some throws in the sitting room for chilly evenings. Quite dusty. Garden is splendid. It has electric stowage heaters, albeit mostly modern, but this is not central heating as stated.

Rodney Wevill

everything very good, did struggle with the hot water, but will be back again, everything was as advertised, easy reach of the town centre, realy comfortable and clean, plenty of room and nice outside space and patio area, room for two cars to park, we all enjoyed our stay,

We’ve just come home from a lovely sunny week in St Mawes staying in Chupra a very smart bungalow with great views over the small town. No more than 100 meters from the shops and beach the accommodation is accessed by a steep path from the bungalows parking space or via a steep hill from the town. Chupra provides us with excellent, clean and well appointed facilities for our stay and I would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay at Chupra. Everything made for a good holiday. We did find the hot water ran out quickly when we all needed showers.

Catherine Tweedie

Nice spacious house which suited all our family needs. Only downside was the path from the car to the house which was overgrown. We holiday in St Mawes at least twice per year and this is one house that we will look to renting again. Would highly recommend!

Rosemary Kirkwood

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chupra and will be returning. The accommodation was very comfortable with plenty of equipment. We took two dogs and it was safe for them as the garden was fully enclosed. The housekeeper was very helpful . The position of the cottage is excellent, the amenities of the village are all within easy walking distance. However the roads in St Mawes are very steep and narrow, which makes it very quaint but difficult for people with mobility problems. Views from the house and garden are pretty. The downsides are the parking which is not on site but on a parking bay on an incline. The alley from this to the cottage is unlit, narrow and steep which makes loading and unloading the car difficult, especially at night. There is a building site behind the cottage but was quite quiet. The garden is lovely. Chupra is well placed for walking and getting about to explore the countryside.St Mawes is very pretty with useful shops, pubs and restaurants.

We love Chupra. It is spacious, comfortable and in a great location. Tucked away in St Mawes, enjoying wonderful sea views from the patio and large garden and also from 2 of the bedrooms, kitchen and living room. It is well equipped, has a decent Wifi signal and is comfortably furnished but not overdone or contrived. We stayed with 2 dogs and there is plenty of room inside and out. The parking spaces are adequate for 2 large cars but the gradient is steep so take care if your car has a low bumper or valance. Top tip when arriving, drive up St Austell Row and unload luggage there as walking down from the car parking space can be tricky.

Kay Kvedaras

We often come to the Roseland area because it is beautiful. We needed a Sunday start accommodation and so booked Chupra. The location is unusual, as you can't get your car up to the property but this wasn't a problem for us. The pathway down from the parking space was quite muddy at this time of year. Walking down into the town takes a couple of minutes and it was nice to be so close but tucked away. A good garden, secure for our dog to be let out. We would have liked to have curtains or a blind in the shower room, apart from that a very comfortable, well equipped place to stay.

Michael Howlin

great location for the town and wedding we attended very nice property facilities great for whole family had a wonderful time

Sue Tebbit

We love Chupra, a very special property especially if you bring your 4 legged friend with you. Thank you

We stayed at Chupra for a week, and were totally charmed by the house, the village and the people. The property is spacious, the two double bedrooms are both large and light with doors onto the patio area and the smaller room was perfect for our two (rather large!) boys. The sheets were crisp and the towels fluffy, the kitchen was well equipped and nicely fitted. Altogether a lovely experience and we are certainly planning on coming back again. Highly recommended.

Yet another lazy holiday with good weather to boot. Lovely property and great garden with a bit of a sea view. Only downside was access to the property and dust generated. With the building work going on the path way from the parking space down to the property was very narrow and only broadened when the greenery was cut back. The pathway could have been treacherous if conditions were wet and muddy. Although the noise generated was kept to a minimum the dust created covered the car which had been left in the designated parking space. Hopefully when building work is completed the pathway will be back to its normal width but we managed to overcome this issue with assistance from neighbours when approaching the property from the other side. Would recommend this property if anybody asked if we knew of anywhere to stay in St. Mawes.

Roger Bartholomew

A rather tired property but with stunning views and comfortable enough for our short break. Not a property for anyone with mobility problems - steps everywhere. We were advised about the building works at the rear which was quite noisy but the temporary fencing they have put up along the footpath has made it very narrow. The footpath down from the car parking space which is very tight is steep and uneven and makes bringing luggage up and down very difficult. A lovely garden although we had to fill a few holes and dog proof the gate. The property was well equipped but both the outside bins were full and we had nowhere to put our rubbish.

Jayne Glasby

Having stayed at Chupra a few times now, we found it just as lovely. Comfortable, homely and in a wonderful location. A little different this time because of the huge building works at the back of the house, which was quite noisy, This won't put us off booking again.

Sarah Callman

Beautiful location and real attention to detail. It felt very restful and we all enjoyed sitting looking at the sea whilst relaxing in the house. A lovely stay and we would most defintiely recommend it to our friends!

Amanda Jones

Chupra has amazing sea views and a wonderful garden. We had a very comfortable stay and lovely time in St. Mawes. Our dog didn't want to leave the garden and was welcomed most places in St Mawes. Loved the ferry to Place and walk to Porth scathing on the coast path. A wonderful holiday.

Susan Potts

It is a good holiday property in an excellent position. This is my 4th visit to this property.

Rebecca Parr

I booked Chupra for my parents as it was their Diamond Wedding Anniversary during the week. We stayed close by and the rest of our family joined us through the week. Chupra is a great place with a very homely feel. It is very clean and well maintained but retains a comfortable, family feel. We all had a great week celebrating with a family barbecue to help my parents mark their 60 years together. The glorious weather helped us to enjoy the generous patio area and garden. Hopefully we will be back next year. Many Thanks

Rebecca Hulin

We are a family of 6 who stayed at chupra,of all ages from grandma to youngest 12.The house was very well equipped with everything you need, although the deco is tired. The location is great being a stones throw from the beach and shops. The car parking space is tricky. Its very tight and once parked it is difficult to carry your luggage down to the property-good job we had 2 strong teenagers to help grandparents as they could get their cases down.We also came with a dog which I feel I should mention that the gate needs to be more enclosed as he could escape.Overall it was good.

Sue Tebbit

This is our second year at Chupra, which I think speaks volumes and we love it. Great position in a beautiful village with lovely views and lovely patio to sit at and take it all in. It does have a lovely homely feel to it as opposed to just being a holiday cottage. The weather was not great but there are some great pubs in which to take "refuge" on bad days!!!! The fish and chips at The Victory Inn are brilliant. Thank you so much to the owners for letting others share their home in Cornwall.

Ricky Toms

The house was book for 3 engineers to stay at in order to carry out work at Falmouth Docks. the web site stated 4 miles from Falmouth. what it failed to say was either....as the crow flies or across the water on the ferry!! this meant an hour drive if they didn't catch the ferry. despite that the house was lovely & in a beautiful setting. I have only rated the location poor due to the distance from Falmouth Docks.

William Motion

We had and excellent week. The view over the bay is gorgeous. This is on the hillside in east StMawes, so expect to climb up or down when you leave the house. The path from the car parking space(s) to the house can be muddy when it rains. Everything we used in the house worked well. The bed linen was crisp and clean.

Jennifer Drewett

Other reviews have commented on the access to the property but we found the path reasonably easy although a torch was essential. The cottage is only a very short walk from the harbour . We loved the sea views and enjoyed some meals on the terrace even in November. We loved the bread from the bakery and meat and cheese from the butchery. The fish and chips from the Watch Out were amazing. Our favourite place for a drink was the Hotel St Mawes.

Annie Baddiley

We all LOVED Chupra. A great location & fantastic house with everything you need to make your stay a good one. We will definitely be going back and can not recommend it enough. Lovely lovely lovely. Thank you x

Rebecca Parr

We found Chupra to be very homely and great value for money. The outside areas are lovely and are ideal for family meals or barbecues. I feel the description for access does not convey the difficult nature of getting to the property on foot. My Father has Parkinson's Disease and therefore has mobility problems and found it difficult at the steps without a handrail. Fortunately we were there in advance and checked out the access but anyone arriving in the dark or unaware of the access could find themselves stuck. Overall this is a great property and we would definitely stay there again.

St Mawes is a great location. Chupra is a nice place to stay, towels and linen were excellent. However we felt that the interior decor could do with a touch of paint, and some of the dishes and pans in the cupboards were dirty and needed to be washed before use. Whilst we knew about the access, we did not feel that the difficulties accessing the property with luggage etc were explained sufficiently.

We had a wonderful weeklong stay at Chupra in St Mawes. We were traveling from US for a family wedding & Chupra fit our needs perfectly. It was a little tricky to find, and the footpath from the parking area to the cottage makes it unsuitable for some older folks, but it was fine for us (3 in their 60s, 2 in their 49s, 2 kids under 11). The house is well outfitted with all the supplies you'd need for a fabulous holiday. The garden and patio are spacious & lovely. Having the sitting area separated from the sleeping areas was great, allowing jet-lagged folks to sleep without disturbance from those awake. It was great to have a clothes washer & dryer, although the latch on the washer definitely needs to be fixed, as it stuck and made it nearly impossible to open the washer door! There was loads of helpful info provided about what to do in the area, which was much appreciated. It's a lovely cottage and we would definitely recommend it.

What a lovely cottage to stay in in a beautiful location. It really was more like home than being on holiday. My favourite bit was having a dog beach so close to the property as usually beaches for dogs are miles away. We could take the dog for a swim, stop at the pub on they way back all in a very short walk. This was certainly our best holiday and would be very surprised if we did not return!!!!

Brilliant location. Well equipped house and excellent garden. Could do with more hooks in bedrooms. Freezer not defrosted. Clothes drying rack needs replacing. No pegs.

A very convenient position, but parking awful and access for unloading and loading not easy. The kitchen cupboards had half used food in them and cutlery drawer dirty, we started by cleaning and putting things in dishwasher. Accommodation tight for 6/7 and 'tired'. Beds comfortable and good quality towels. We had phone Cornwall Cottages and asked specifically about ease of access as we had a 5 month old baby, and their opinion would not be ours about suitability and ease of off loading. I have communicated our thoughts to Cornwall Cottages since our return, but they still feel this is good value for money, there we would also disagree.

Anne James

Everything we needed was provided. If you have mobility problems getting to Chupra could be difficult. Clean and warm. The gardens were well kept and would be lovely to sit in ,in warm weather. We would return to Chupra.
