A beautiful property in a superb location. Quiet but accessible - just a peaceful and relaxing abode, no need to go anywhere else!
A wonderful house with spectacular 180 degree views. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Farfield, it was such a lovely place just to sit and take in the ever changing views around us. It was well located as we walked more of the magnificent coastal path.
Farfield is a wonderful place for a family holiday, especially in good weather. Glorious views, a lovely garden and total peace. Walk to coves and beaches, swim and explore rock pools, or find a sunny corner in the garden to read a book or draw. A perfect retreat from the world. In times of covid and wishing to be as self sufficient as possible we had a food delivery on day one and did a small top up later in the week at Curgurrel farm shop, 10 minutes walk away: great scones, veges, cream and seafood. In a year of staycations roads were busier than usual for the time of year so being tucked away at Farfield was as good as isolating and given good weather, that's pretty much what we did, only a few outings further afield to old haunts. As to the house, it suited our household really well in terms of space and comfort, overall it worked very well and we had a wonderful holiday. The weather was good so we made the most of walking and relaxing. The kitchen is adequately supplied but could be better. I always travel with my own cooking essentials (knives etc) but there was insufficient glassware and no large oven to table dishes for family sized bakes, other than oven tins or a medium casserole. Pans had been badly abused and things put away in a muddle. As a cook I am (unfortunately) accustomed to this but for a large family house it could be improved. More sockets by work surfaces would be good. A food processor for this size of property (even when not occupied to maximum capacity in covid times) would be useful. Eating out is not easy this year. There have been various upgrades to bathrooms etc since the photos on the website were taken. Very good towel rails and good hand held showers with sufficient pressure. New carpets and comfortable beds. The upkeep of a house by the sea, particularly external repairs, are considerable and Farfield is in need of some repairs: several window frames are rotting and the door frame from the kitchen to the terrace is rotting to a degree that will soon see the hinges part company from the remains of the frame. Some of the inside 'upgrades' are a bit basic/poor quality for the type of house. Door handles are a case in point - glued to inadequate spindles - two fell out of the doors with no effort. Keys seemed to be awkward to almost all external doors . These observations should not take away from the absolute delight of being in this really lovely magical place. It is a very special house and we felt very lucky that we were able to have such a wonderful week there, a time of pretty perfect bliss in such a very strange year. Overall an exceptionally good family holiday and full of very happy memories in a special place.
A lovely , comfortable house in a sensational location. Just a couple of irritants. The showers in the en suites were extremely slippery, so much so that that one of our number fell and narrowly missed hurting himself badly. When this was reported we were told that anti - slip mats were not available This may be a precautionary Covid measure but, bearing in mind the very high rental fees for this property, surely mats can be disinfected and changed after each tenancy. There were only 3 loungers to be shared among 8 guests. Again disappointing in a property in this price range. Neither of these points spoiled our holiday and.as indicated below we would not hesitate to recommend it to others but it seemed such a shame to us that a holiday property that offered so much could be marred by deficiencies which could so easily be rectified
We really enjoyed our week at Farfield. The views are simply amazing and the extent of the grounds was surprising. If you are looking for peace and solitude then this is a place to stay. The bathrooms have been recently updated but the kitchen and exterior does require some work. Unfortunately the prices for next year have increased significantly so it is very unlikely we will be able to stay here again.
is lovelyhouseWe have stayed in a number of larger houses around the Cornwall & Devon coast path and Farfield gets the best press. The owners have thought of almost everything and prepared the house with good taste and attention to detail. The pictures throughout the house create a wonderful atmosphere, everything works (the code for the interne vneeds updating in the welcome guide) and the bathrooms are all spacious with excellent showers and plentiful hot water. We would just have liked to thank the owners and the staff who prepared everything for our arrival. On reflection we would have liked to keep this beautiful house a secret, but that would be unfair. From here we walked the coast line from Helford to Fowey and were delighted to spend time enjoying the views out to sea and the countryside around this lovely house.
We arrived on a Friday evening at midnight and could hear the sea but not see it! We woke up on Saturday to the most stunning coastal views - we were really delighted. The house is really spacious - plenty of room for our large family in terms of living space and bedrooms - always a real bonus when a holiday home has both. The bathrooms are all really modern and clean (often a bug bear on rentals - but perfect in this property!) The kitchen is a little dated, and the fridge and freezer were a bit temperamental - but it didn't ruin our stay given we were only there for a week. Having a washing machine and tumble drier was also really useful. The TVs were a bit retro - and we struggled with getting some channels - but it didn't really matter as we weren't there to sit in from of the telly! It was the beginning of the season, and outside was a bit grubby - lots of leaves / pine needles / bird poo - but it must be quite a battle to keep on top of it. The formal gardens were BEAUTIFUL - and the surrounding fields gave a great sense of space. The rope swing in the garden was the absolute favourite thing about the whole holiday for our 4 children - they used it loads every day! Another plus point for the kids was excellent wifi at Farfield - and 4G in the surrounding areas - when travelling with teenagers this is a must. We walked along the coastal path out of the back gate to The Hidden Hut and Portscatho - which was a fabulous walk, and the kids went in the sea at a number of the beaches en route. The Boathouse in Portscatho for a fabulous coffee and cake (ok, prosecco and cake!) was perfect. We also had a lovely afternoon tea at The Driftwood Hotel - the Michelin starred restaurant there sounded amazing - but not very child friendly, so we didn't venture there. Curgurrel Farm Shop just up the road was fabulous - and we popped a few times for local supplies to supplement the Tesco and Waitrose deliveries we had (so good that different supermarkets will deliver) We also travelled around the county - doing Lands End / St Michaels Mount / Crantock / The Eden Project - and the Roseland peninsula seemed a good base to do that from. All in all a stunning house in a fabulous location - we would definitely return.
Wonderful family Roseland holiday, home from home, Farfield and the most perfect view what ever the weather.
We returned this summer for another week at Farfield. Location blows me away every time, the views are breath taking. We had the master suite, it's massive , and our kids were on the top floor with a large bathroom to share. The kitchen is very well equipped , two comfy sitting rooms and it's nice that the owners have left books and dvds for you to use during your stay. The gardens are very big and we loved walking down to the beach at the bottom (pebbly but you usually have it to your self and great for shells). There are some lovely sandy beaches within a short distance and porthscatho and st mawes are a short drive. The only negative I would say is that you can tell the plumbing is a bit antiquated and some of the locks are very stuff. This didn't particularly bother us though. We will be booking again for next year.
Lovely house in perfect location. Good for extended family visit. Right on the coastal path for wal
The house has a stunning view with lovely grounds straight onto the coastal path. It was roomy house for our family of 8 adults 2 dogs and a baby. There were games, DVDs and even some children's toys and the kitchen is well equipped. The beds and sofas were very comfortable, and there is a drying room for boots and wet clothes. The slight negatives were, that there is not much outdoor furniture - a picnic bench and 2 small wooden tables, also the house looks a little 'tired' and in need of some upgrading. Overall it was excellent for our family holiday.
We loved our week at your stunning property. The only negative was the lights weren't always attached to a switch which was slightly confusing and there was a bit of damp in the lounge. The rest of the stay was perfect. Thanks
'Farfield' is a delightful spacious, and comfortable house in a truly spectacular location, with a totally unhindered view of the whole of Gerrans Bay, and Nare Head, which is breathtaking. The house is surrounded by a beautiful well maintained mature garden, with direct access to the Coastal path, and the beach below. The renowned 'Hidden Hut' cafe on the headland above Porthcurnick beach is a just a gentle stroll along the lane from 'Farfield'. Along the coast path in the opposite direction are the beaches of Pendower and Carne. We enormously enjoyed our three generation two week holiday at 'Farfield', and plan to return, though I am reluctantly marking 'Farfield' down for condition, but feel it is valid. There were flushing problems with the cloakroom and master bathroom toilets. The management company responded to the problem promptly, but their plumber was unable to repair during our stay. This flushing problem had been mentioned in a testemonial by guests in May, I can only assume they didn't report it to the Management company, otherwise we would not have experienced the same problem in July! Sadly the tumble dryer failed early in our first week, and a replacement was due for delivery the day after our holiday ended! However this problem could have arisen in any holiday home, good weather allowed us to dry beach towels outside in the main, and we used the heated bathroom towel rails as well. We also would have really appreciated a 'Guest Information Book' to give us basic information about the house, We had to hunt about to find keys for windows, and the access code for the wi-fi we eventually found on a ragged piece of paper in a drawer of the hall table. All previous holiday homes we have rented over many years have always provided a 'Guest Info Book'. PLEASE consider this for the benefit of future guests.
The views, location and gardens were outstanding! Would stay here again for sure. The second bedroom really should have a proper shower in it for the price you pay. Also the toilets didnt flush very well. Otherwise very well equipped and did not want to leave.
A wonderful house in a spectacular location with oceans of space and a convenient location for the famous Hut Cafe. The only downside to the property is that the toilet systems are difficult to flush.
Farfield has to be one of the most comfortable properties we have ever stayed in and no-one could ever tire of that view !! So nice to find a property of such a high standard that allows dogs. We had a fantastic stay.
The view could not be faulted it is better in reality than it looks on-line. Just a couple of niggles so could not use excellent, the plumbing needs a bit of attention as a couple of the toilets were difficult to flush and downstairs cloakroom tap was very stiff. There was cereal on the floor in the kitchen left by previous renters that had not been cleaned up. I believe that the downstairs area could do with a further T.V, this is because the house sleeps 8 and not everyone wants to watch the same thing. The last observation is that the house is a little damp in places - it does not affect you but it is a shame to see it. My wife did text the housekeepers when we left as to what mattress was in the master bedroom because it was so, so comfortable that we need to buy one, but she did not get an answer which was a shame, but we did call on them a couple of times during our stay and they were more than helpful. The above are minor niggles that did not in anyway spoil our stay but just worth a mention. The house IS absolutely wonderful, the grounds are idyllic as is the view, and I would not hesitate to come again or to suggest the house to others, as we did not want to leave it.
This property certainly has the wow factor. The grounds are beautifully maintained and a pleasure to wander around looking at the stunning views, our dogs loved running free in the field and we appreciated the fact that we were able to take ours to this property. The house itself was very comfortable and clean and really can not be faulted. We love this area of Cornwall, it's peaceful with great walks and beaches and of course there's the Hidden Hut a short walk away for tasty food. We were amazed at the stars, being an unpolluted area we saw far more than we do at home and we thought we had it good! A couple of small points that would be helpful is a gate at the bottom of the stairs to stop dogs going up as the top gate doesn't always work properly and Vets details being included in the arrival notes. Thank you for letting us use your beautiful home we would definitely like stay again.
The house was very clean and comfortable and we were able to find everything we needed in the kitchen. We had to supplement the toilet rolls as we ran out with no replacement supplies locatable. Weather generally better than the forecast and grounds were well maintained and laid out. Would book again as we did not exhaust local opportunities and it was a nice house to be in.
We had an absolutely fantastic time at this house. Completely gorgeous location amazing views. The house itself was very comfortable and wonderfully relaxing to be in. It was easy to walk to numerous beaches and coves. Everyone in our party had a superb stay. Would definitely recommend unreservedly.
We had a wonderful week in Farfield and decided it was our favourite Cornish holiday home - we have been hiring houses for the last eight years in Cornwall. The location was fantastic with the most amazing views and the well kept gardens were not only extensive but beautifully maintained which to be honest, is not our usual experience. There was everything we could ever have needed in the well equipped kitchen and house in general and the generosity of the owners, leaving coats, hats and shoes was a much appreciated extra, plus the food cupboard with its useful contents. If we had to make any suggestions, it would be the problem of not getting in until 4pm as we had travelled from Birmingham and after a long journey, it would have made life so much easier for an earlier entry especially as we had two pregnant mums-to-be! As we have to be out by 10am, we feel that we are cheated out of a day?! The cleaner said that some people had asked for an early entry. Had that been a possibility, I would have made that request! One other point is that the rooms at the top of the house felt damp. Having had horrendous weather on the Thursday night before we left, the window sills were splashing with water where the rain had come in even though the windows were shut. There was also damp in the conservatory. Fortunately we had good weather all week so it wasn't too much of a problem. We would love to return another year. Thank you for the clear and easy running of all the booking, payments etc. Best wishes, Alison Cookson and family.
Great house and location, cannot wait to go back next year. Beach at the end of the road was quiet and clean. Kids loved the huge garden for running around in and the view from the house was epic.
A great house with an amazing view and so many vantage points. We couldn't fault it - comfort, location, space and quiet, fresh fish and fruit from the farm shop. Seeing the full moon reflected on the sea at midnight was one of the highlights as were the ever-changing colours. This was our 3rd visit to the Roseland peninsular but definitely the best location. Worth noting that for cream teas Melinsey Mill is closed on Mondays - by luck we chose to walk there on a Tuesday. Our favourite restaurant in the area is still The Rosevine (and walkable, which means everyone can enjoy a drink.)
The views from Farfield are amazing. The grounds are superb. The ability to directly access the coastal path and close proximity to beaches was a definite bonus. The house has ample accommodation which is clean and comfortable. Small details to make a stay more enjoyable were attended to. We are already looking at a future booking.
This house is stunning in every way. The gardens are beautiful and we had a fun holiday. Child and dog friendly. Very relaxing. Everything has been thought of to make your holiday perfect. We would recommend and will return.
