There isn't really much to say this year apart from that we had another fantastic stay. A few of the small improvements we suggested last year had been addressed and I really struggle to give any negative criticism at all. We will be going back year on year I'd imagine. Many thanks. The Morrisons
One oven in that beautiful kitchen, is insuffient when cooking for large numbers of people. The showers had no shelves for soaps etc at waist level, , or grab handles for security . Especially needed in bedroom on reception level, as I presume this is meant for use by people with disabilities. TV's both showed same channels, so we could not separate to watch anything different. Had we had better weather, the lack of cushions for outside furniture , would have been an issue. Only 2 lounger chairs on the balcony !!!! For a house that sleeps at least 8 adults!!!! Wardrobe in bedroom 1 needs replacing, with more useful hanging space, and better hangers!!! Overall, a beautiful house, with views that are just fabulous. The cream tea on arrival was a lovely surprise., and most appreciated.
First, Cornwall cottages were most helpful with a query before the holiday started. The arrival a distinct improvement on other rentals, unloading the car undercover and,on entering, the heating was already on. Again never before with others, so no searching for instructions and finding boiler controls. Now Fiddlers Green. Simply a beautiful home with stunning views no matter what time of year one goes. Peaceful and comfortable throughout, interior design to encourage the holiday feel of the place. As for practicalities, two things of note. We have rented properties for many years and have often found that cutlery, crockery, even coffee mugs etc does not match the number of potential guests, not so here. Something mundane, sometimes the bins have had to be taken quite a distance (at Feoch 1/4 mile!), here top of the drive or housekeeping will take it for you. To sum up, a delightful holiday in a delightful place that we hope to repeat next year. Jocelyn & Jeff. Shropshire.
Our second visit to Fiddlers Green. The house is comfortable and we thoroughly enjoy the view from every room. Thank you.
.The property was generally in good condition but needed a bit of TLC in places. The bed in the small double room was comfortable and the room itself was fine but may have felt more cosy and less damp if the wetroom could be properly closed off with a door rather than a curtain. A heated towel rail would be useful in that room. Generally it is a lovely property apart from the lower floor feeling and smelling like a damp basement. Its probably fine in warm weather, although I wonder if the drains are always a problem. A double oven would be a good idea, if only to give the opportunity to grill at the same time as roasting/baking. The patio doors in the sitting room were almost impossible to open and the french doors from the main bedroom kept sticking- it looks as if the whole lintel above those windows might have dropped but it needs attention. People who slept downstairs also mentioned that there needed to be thicker curtains or blinds which had been mentioned before
A wonderful week in a lovely house. The house was ideal for the whole family, especially for three little ones under three years old. It was spacious and comfortable. It was very well equipped and on the whole well maintained. The housekeepers were quick to respond if needed. A few negatives, the wet room in the double bedroom downstairs was not pleasant and there was a smell of drains in the upstairs wet room. The outside table needs a good jet spray clean and the iron leaks water. Apart from that, we are delighted to have booked again for next year.
Many thanks for another fantastic stay. We have been coming to St Mawes for nearly 20 years and this was our third visit to Fiddlers and I can hands down say that this was our best trip yet. Apart from the house being brilliant for our uses, the weather really treated us and it was quite frankly better than the Med for two weeks! This was the first year with our new girl and she loved it too I think, i wasn't able to ask her obviously! But I hope she will eventually want to come down every year as I have down for most of my life. The house was fantastic equipped for babies (and I'd imagine children too) as we had a couple of babies and we found it extremely easy to do everything we needed to do. One comment I would make, which clearly hasn't bothered me in the past but with Babies it did matter, I think it would be a good idea to install some more efficient blinds. Although I love waking up in natural light, with irregular sleeping patterns due to young children I my wife found it particularly difficult to get back to sleep if Evie had woken up early. For the baby downstairs we actually bought some black out blinds ourselves as it was the same down there. A the weather was really so good this year, it bought another idea to my mind about improving and utilising the balcony better in the Summer. Some new more comfortable table and chairs might be a good idea and possibly some outdoor sofas at the far end so it encourages people to use it more as I felt it was dead space. We also love to BBQ and I think the one in the house is on it's last legs. The Kitchen is very well equipped but we ended up buying a potato peeler and spatula as we could find any in the draws, assume they had been mislaid? Another thought I had was improving the double bed in the main bedroom upstairs. I appreciate I am above average in size but I find it quite small for what is the master bedroom, there is plenty of space for a larger and possibly more comfy bed! I know this is very personal but I thought worth mentioning. I would also like to say a special thank you to Chris and Sandra who looked after us so well. We were quite demanding and they were always happy to help and did so extremely quickly every time! Many thanks again and please ask the Owners whether they would consider offering us some sort of first refusal for our two weeks annually as we love it so much and will always have it in the diary! Tom and Jess Morrison (and Evie)
Superb location with wonderful views. Very comfortable accommodation for eight of us including baby. We had several questions for housekeeper Sandra who responded quickly and helpfully. A very enjoyable stay. Just one piece of feedback - sliding doors to upper balcony are very difficult to move. Can they be eased please. Roger
Fiddlers Green is in a spectacular setting overlooking the sea. The house and gardens were beautifully maintained. The house was welcoming and comfortable. Had a very relaxing holiday. Hope to come back again. Would highly recommend St Mawes itself is an unspoilt seaside village with a lovely little harbour where you can catch regular ferries to Falmouth.
A fantastic place to spend a holiday with family or friends. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house was very comfortable and warm. My only criticism would be that it would be good to have a separate toilet upstairs as the only one on the main floor was an en-suite to the master bedroom so everyone used it! Apart from that it was perfect.
As this was my third visit to this property this statement speaks volumes about how much I like it here.No-one waned to return home and we will definitely return. If you cannot relax here there is no hope!
Beautiful property in a wonderful location. The views are unequalled and can be enjoyed from either balcony or the very comfortable lounge - in fact all the rooms including the kitchen which is beautifully fitted and equipped. Comfort is only marked as good because we found the mattress in the upstairs bedroom very hard( a minor detail) . It is a very short walk to St.Mawes through the beautiful gardens and down the steps which are even lit at night!. We are already planning our next visit.
We have been gathering together in the Springtime by the sea for a family catch-up for a number of years and over time have been fortunate to stay in some fabulous houses and locations situated along the southern coastline. Fiddlers Green tops all regarding both presentation of the property and its stunning location; it certainly ticked all of the boxes that individually and collectively we had hoped for when first planning a coastal stay. Sincere thanks to all who enable such a super property to be available for use by those seeking a dose of pure bliss.
This visit I returned with three female friends so quite different to my first family visit. It did not dissapoint and was as good as my previous visit. In fact a couple of my friends were so impressed that they intend to return with their families.Recommendation enough I feel.Hopefully the "Ladies of a certain age " will be back.
Another wonderful stay at this fabulous house. The location is outstanding even by St Mawes standards. Highly recommended. The house is extremely well equipped. We were delighted to have had our return visit rewarded with a bottle of fizz. Thank you.
It was our second visit to Fidlers Green with the family. It is a very well equipped house with lovely views.Plenty to do for all ages in the area. National Trust Properties .Boat Hire. Mackeral Fishing. Eden Project.
Superb property with breath taking views from balcony. Fiddlers is very well mainted propert with all the comforts you need. It has ensuit in every bedroom. We would definitely recommend this property and will be returning soon 10/10.
The difficulty for our family was that we could not take our small clean housetrained dog. He is one of the family and we will not leave him in kennels . This makes going on holiday anywhere hard work as we have to lodge him with friends or family whose good will we have now exhausted . For this reason we will not be coming back to Fiddlers Green. We have been twice in high season and would like to book another week this year for next as apart from Rover we have been happy there.
This is a tastefully presented, well equipped property. The location is excellent with a beautiful view and convenient access to the town. St Mawes has some pleasant eating places, and the Co-op shop is quite well stocked, which it needs to be because St Mawes is quite remote. We'd be happy to stay here again with one caveat: - the main sofa that looks out at the view was not comfortable for sitting and reading. A previous review described this accurately. We tried several bodies on the sofa and all agreed :-) I've indicated that I would recommend this property, but to be enthusiastic about it, I'd like to see the comfort issue addressed.
This is our second visit as a family and we loved it. The house is just gorgeous and in such a fabulous position. We will definitely be visiting St Mawes again!
This house has spectacular views across St Mawes and Falmouth Bay. If boats and ships interest you, then this is the place. There is continual activity on the water to hold that interest. If the weather does not suit, the house offers comfort and warmth for those days. Last week whilst the rest of the U.K. froze we got sunburnt siting on the balcony. St Mawes appears to have its own micro climate which tends to give warmer day days.
The whole family said the same thing as they walked into the living-room of Fiddler's Green - "Wow!" - the view is fantastic. All the bedrooms are very comfortable with en-suite facilities (the entrance-level bedroom was great for my mother-in-law, who finds stairs difficult). The kitchen was spacious and very well-equipped when we wanted a break from the excellent restaurants in Saint Mawes. Would have loved to have spent more time on the terraces but there's no controlling the Cornish weather in April! More expensive than many places in Cornwall but it was worth every penny. Can't wait to go back.
Where to start! The fantastic location affords views over St Anthony's head and down to the village, so even if the weather is poor, you can enjoy the outlook. The kitchen is fabulously equipped - you won't find a shortage of implements or vessels, though the ceramic induction hob gets a little getting used to. The house is warm (we lit the wood stove once, but not out of necessity) and cosy and the bedrooms comfy and well equipped with ensuites to each. There are games, books and some DVDs left for any poor weather days. The internet is a bit slow down in St Mawes, so don't expect brilliant wifi there - but enough for website visits, not video streaming. We were a family of 10 (6 adults and 4 children), cooking in each night. We've been visiting St Mawes since time immemorial and have not found a better place to stay. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful week in St. Mawes in this lovely house celebrating our Golden Wedding with all our family. The large comfortable bedrooms all with ensuite were excellent for the eleven of us, 3 generations. The house was well equipped, especially the magnificent kitchen although the lounge furniture was a little tired. The views across St. Mawes and out to sea were stunning. Access to St. Mawes was easy through lovely terraced gardens, well lit at night, and then a short walk into town where there were many lovely places to eat. The Tresanton Hotel provided an excellent celebration meal for us and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. We were well looked after by the charming and helpful caretakers. Fiddlers Green is a wonderful holiday home in a fantastic location.
Fantastic views over the estuary, always something to watch. Village centre easy to reach through well maintained (and lit) gardens. House cosy, well equipped and very clean. Maybe getting slightly tired in places. Also sitting room furniture could be more comfortable. That said, would not hesitate to return/recommend.
My family and myself had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. Very well equipped and perfectly situated with excellent views. The Cornish cream tea on arrival was most welcome! Looking forward to our next visit.
Enjoyed a great week in this fantastic house. Lots to do in the area. House location is great, our only wish was for some sitting chairs more comfortable to the older generation!
We all hugely enjoyed our stay at Fiddlers Green and were delighted at the elevated position the house occupies giving the best, panoramic views of the whole St Mawes Bay and entrance to the Fal Estuary. With its capacious balcony and garden terraces it was a joy just to sit in the sun with a glass of wine and watch the boats coming and going! The house is very well equipped with top quality fixtures and fittings, appliances etc. and everything had been thought of so we needed nothing. The terraced gardens are beautiful and very well maintained, making a lovely walk on the steps/path up and down to the village.
I arrived here alone and wandered round trying to decide which bedroom to take. The rest of my guests when they arrived ,were delighted with the accommodation.Very sociable kitchen/diner.Sorry about all the empty bottles! We did have a good time. Only criticism there needs to be some form curtain/blind in the room where the cot was.Other than that splendid.
We loved the place. St Mawes is a charmant village and the cottage has an amazing view. It has all comfort needed! Decoration is simple, nice and cosy! We spent 5 wonderful days. Makes you want to come back!
We enjoyed our stay, but the lounge furniture was mainly cane chairs that were very uncomfortable, as was the large sofa where the cushions were well worn and soft. There was little garden furniture to allow us to enjoy the beautiful outside area. A BBQ would have added to our experience. We did enjoy and would have returned but the rental rise next year we felt was excessive.
Fiddlers Green does have the 'wow' factor. When walking in you immediately see through the front windows to the amazing view which is from St Mawes to St Anthony's head and out to sea ...... fantastic! The house is beautifully appointed, well equipped and, on our arrival, spotlessly clean. The location is excellent, with a footpath down through well kept gardens to the quiet road leading to the village which is a short stroll away. We were a party of 4 couples so looked for somewhere with en-suite facilities for each bedroom and Fiddlers Green offered those facilities. There is a lot to do and see in the area, all you need is good weather with we were very lucky to have.
We spent a wonderful week in this glorious house. The views are incredible and it was a delight to watch the shipping going by as we relaxed in great comfort. The house was ideal for our grandson of 17 months and he was quite safe on the balcony enjoying the sunshine and spotting the yachts and the Falmouth ferry! The accommodation allowed us great privacy and space, we were a 2 generational family of 4 + toddler but there would be plenty of room for more occupants. The fact that you have parking and car access at all times is also a bonus in St Mawes. The garden is lovely and beautifully kept. The path (steep steps) through the garden to the road to the village is so handy - although be careful what you buy as going back up was quite a work out with heavy bags! Fiddlers Green is a truly magnificent house, very well equipped and appointed for a holiday home and we cannot recommend it highly enough. We will be back - hopefully next year.
Stunning views towards St Anthony's lighthouse whatever the weather will stay with us. Fiddlers green is light, airy and comfortable. It is warm and cosy and very well equipped with utensils aplenty. We stayed as a family group of 10 and it suited perfectly from the 10 year old to the 89 year old. I would definitely visit again.
St Mawes is a place which is rather unique. It has all the attributes to fore fill our UK coastal holiday expectations. To make this all come to fruition,I look for a modern and very comfortable house and must be in the right Location.Fibblers Green for fills all these requirements and together with fantastic views.
Wonderful property, difficult to fault. The only (very minor) problem was the stifling heat of the property when we arrived. We were told not to touch the thermostat so we just turned all the radiators off.
A homely, spacious and extremely comfortable house with spectacular views over St Mawes and the sea beyond. The balcony proved to be a very popular place to sit and dream whilst watching the sailing boats and larger ships passing by. All rooms were well equipped and the garden, although steep, provided a short cut into the village which was a 5 minute walk away. The caretakers were very pleasant, helpful and efficient and we were also pleased to meet the owner. 4 generations of our family loved this house and hope to be back soon.
Fabulous property, stunning views and plenty of room for the seven of us. Property is well equipped with almost everything you could need. Well placed for walking into village for evening meals.
It is impossible to describe the beauty of Fiddlers Green. The house is tranquil, comfortable and so relaxing. The view is mesmerising and there is so much to watch as boats, large and small come in and out of harbour. To sit on the balcony and watch the sun rise in the morning and the moon across the water at night is amazing. All rooms in the house share this panorama, from St Mawes Castle across to Falmouth Castle so no matter what the weather It is a wonderful place to be. The accommodation is shabby chic, pretty and very comfortable, a combination of old and new furniture, lovely en suite bathrooms, with white, fluffy towels and excellent beds and bedding. The garden Is beautifully landscaped and very well tended with lots of different plants. It is steep with several sets steps down to the road which leads down to St Mawes, At night the steps and paths are well lit. There is also a steep access drive but there is plenty of parking with just a short steep path to the front door. The housekeepers were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The booking process was easy and efficient and the whole holiday most enjoyable.
we were looking for a house that would suit all our family from my mum and dad who are in their 80's to our grandchildren who are 4 and 1.5yrs and this house fitted that bill and some. we were 9 in total and there were sufficient bedrooms and bathrooms for all to have private facilities including one on the ground floor which meant the grandparents didnt need to be up and down stairs. the house is exactly as the photos, it is beautifully furnished and equipped and the views are breathtaking. there are a lot of steps in the quite steep garden but we knew that and the youngest member of the party was confined to house and balcony so he didnt fall anywhere. the beds are super comfy and all the appliances of top quality; nothing has been overlooked, even hairdryers in all the bedrooms! there are so many places to sit inside and out that you can always find a quiet corner or somewhere sunny or somewhere in the shade, something for everyone. did I mention the views - they are stunning and available from virtually every room even from the bath!
A lovely property in a beautiful setting and garden. Very well maintained house and garden, equipped well for a self catering holiday. Lovely scones on arrival!!
We really enjoyed our holiday at Fiddler's Green. The ambience of the house and its amazing views exceeded all our expectations in every respect. The photographs on the website don't really do it justice - it's 'WOW' from the moment you turn in to the driveway and it just gets better. The tea tray laden with scones, jam and clotted cream was a lovely surprise welcome to Fiddler's Green. We look forward to returning for another holiday as soon as we can.
We enjoyed our stay with eight people and managed to accomadated a further four for Sunday lunch,so plenty of room. The house was well maintained, very clean and everything seemed to work. The garden looked as if it had been professionally landscaped, was well maintained and a real pleasure to walk in.We met the two Friday people, who were extremely polite, helpful and informative.
We really enjoyed our stay at Fiddlers Green especially as the weather was very good throughout our holiday. I have only one criticism and that was the ban on dogs. We have a very clean well behaved small dog which the agents said we could not bring , We requested that the agents ask the owners if we could bring the dog. As I understand it no such request was made. If the dog ban is lifted I would go again.
Lovely house in an excellent location with breathtaking views of St Mawes and the Fal Esturary. We were a party of 6 including 2 elderly ladies (80+). The house was ideal as all of the 4 bathrooms had walk-in showers and one of the bedrooms is on the main living room floor which obviated the need to use stairs. The house is very well equipped, particularly in the kitchen, where there are plenty of knives, utensils, cookware and crockery. We enjioyed our stay very much and may well book again next year.
Please note that prices include our booking fee, but excludes booking protection and any chargeable extras such as dogs.
