Above them is a sun terrace with sofas for lounging and table for dining al fresco. We all loved this cottage - the proximity to the sea and a beach and an easy walk to St Mawes centre. The decor is lovely, the beds comfortable. We are a tall family so the bathrooms upstairs are a little restricted in height and the kitchen is small but just about manageable. Loved to sit on the bench outside and watch the world go by and it is easy to walk from the house out of town and along the coast a bit. We had a problem with a bathroom door handle that got jammed and this was fixed for us quite quickly and also a slightly quirky fire alarm that had a night of beeping frequently for no apparent reason On the whole a v good experience

Feel lucky to have stayed in such a lovely family cottage Would be nice to have super king duvets for when the twin beds are pushed together and maybe think about upgrading the sofa however if this works well with small kids and families it would be an expensive upgrade. Thank you for Prosecco and fresh flowers some champagne glasses would be a worthwhile extra. The fire was fantastic in November and made the cottage very warm and homely.

We loved staying at Our Cottage. It was bliss arriving in the gorgeous village of St Mawes after the dreadful few months that we all have been through. The cottage was beautiful overlooking the sea and from the upstairs bedrooms it was magical. I have never appreciated somewhere more than I did at Our Cottage. Just be thankful everyone and be grateful for places as beautiful as Cornwall.

We were really relieved to find that our holiday in Our Cottage (booked last year) could go ahead after the COVID-19 restrictions were relaxed a little. This was the third time we have stayed there - we love it and have already booked for next year. It's perfectly placed for Tavern Beach - where our small grandchildren spent most of their time - and the rear yard is convenient for keeping beach paraphernalia such as bodyboards and an inflatable kayak. The quirky (outside) "Eden Loo" is especially handy for wet and sandy children coming off the beach to use without traipsing through the house. The accommodation is comfortable and reasonably child-proof, so you aren't constantly worried about what the 3-year-old is doing to the furnishings. The kitchen is small and a little short of storage space, but that's not really a problem when you are living mainly on pasties, saffron buns and fresh fish from the quay. The bedrooms are surprisingly roomy (unlike the bathroom and inside loo where tall people have very restricted headroom, but you quickly learn where you can stand up without concussing yourself). We had been warned that owing to COVID-19 the furnishings would be more spartan than usual, but this proved not to be the case and there were also plenty of cleaning materials and hand sanitiser. The only negative point was a broken armchair which wasn't fixed during our stay, but I haven't marked the condition down for that because repairs are probably difficult to arrange at present and it didn't affect as as in the end there were only 6 of us - with 7 or 8 it might have mattered more. The outside seats were ideal for socially-distanced conversation with other family members staying elsewhere, but the single yellow lines do encourage inconsiderate motorists to park right in front of them. All in all, we had an excellent time and can't wait to be back next year.

Pre-arrival communication and information was very good. The housekeeper was friendly and very helpful. She replaced some frying pans that had seen much better days. It was kind of the owners to leave a birthday card and bottle of wine for my wife - thank you. St Mawes is really lovely with beautiful views, good amenities and plenty to do locally. The cottage was very warm even in some very stormy weather. Our bed was comfortable (although the duvet isn't quite wide enough). Car parking outside the property was good for us but we imagine would be a pain after April 1st. There is a large car park by the bus station and a smaller one near the harbour but both would have been fairly costly and a slight inconvenience. Nothing the owners can do about this though. Tye views from the lounge and front bedrooms are great. Others have mentioned the small TV and uncomfortable sofa - we gather the latter may be replaced before too long. The armchairs in the photos have been replaced and are comfortable. Size wise, the property was fine for the two of us but whilst there are 4 bedrooms, 8 adults would be a squeeze (especially with the small kitchen, bathroom and loo). The shower and loo outside would be Ok in summer but not so great in the rain, hail and storms we encountered at times. However, we gather there may be plans for an extension/reconfiguration to address this which would be good. It might also be helpful to sort out and throw away any old equipment manuals - not a big problem at all but slightly frustrating on our first evening.

Our annual visit to at Mawes to celebrate moms birthday and in memory of her twin . At Mawes was his favourite place and holds many happy memories for us all. Our cottage was perfect ,Spacious, clean, welcoming thanks to Hayley . Amazing views..Storm Dennis hit that weekend and actually made it even more spectacular. Only adjustment I would have liked would be in inside loo downstairs for mom .

Colin Shorthouse

Lovely cottage in a great position with bags of character and history. Fantastic outlook with panoramic sea views. Second bathroom and toilet are outside and unheated but all in all a great holiday let that we would come back to.

We have been going to Our Cottage for nearly 40 years and love it even more each time. Thank you for another perfect holiday!

Norman Ladbrook

had a lovely stay at 'our cottage', it was very clean and well equipped. Loved the quirky features. Lovely location and beautiful scenery.

This was our second year at Our Cottage and we have already booked again for next year. It has good sized rooms (except for the bathroom which is a bit of a squish). Everything is in good condition and the kitchen is well equipped. It has a delightful position on the Front, just a few steps from the harbour wall and Tavern beach. Highly recommend.

A perfect house to stay in St Mawes. One of the best I have been in and I have been coming every year since 1975!

The house is in such a perfect location right in front of a lovely beach and it has absolutely lovely views from the front 2 bedrooms. The living area is light and spacious. St Mawes is a really charming place with a lot to offer. We had a great stay, swimming every day.

Several years now in Our Cottage and still a very comfortable and, above all, convenient place to stay. Excellent condition and the housekeepers extremely helpful and on the ball with regard to any requests made. The only slight criticism concerns the chairs in the living area; - not very easy to get into and more problematic getting out!!! They are reasonably comfortable to actually sit in but not easy, especially for slightly older guests!!! Overall a very good week was had and we hope to be back next year.

Rose Tabraham

Ticked all the boxes for a happy family holiday in a perfect location. We'd love to come same time next year, please?

Pamela Faulks

Our cottage provided everything we needed, comfortable beds, comfortable sitting room, well equipped kitchen and a fabulous view. The village shop was only a five minute flat walk away as was the ferry to Falmouth etc. Parking in the main village car park was not a problem and with only a single yellow line on the road outside it meant short term stopping for unloading the vehicle. was possible. We were only two but I can imagine there might be problems with only one small bathroom if the house had a full complement of visitors. Outside, across the yard, there's a very good shower, washing and drying machines and next to that is the most wonderful loo! The lady who looked after the cottage was very helpful indeed when I failed to locate the power switch for the oven, my fault but she could not have been kinder. A delightful way to spend time in Cornwall.

Wonderful accommodation perfect location with all that we needed. We had to unexpectedly contact housekeeper and was very happy with their helpfulness and prompt resolution. I would strongly consider returning to this area next year - hopefully to the same accommodation.

For a stay on the Roseland Peninsula, this cottage is highly recommended. A fantastic view over the harbour and very comfortable.

Elizabeth Mcintyre

Excellent stay as in previous years no complaints. Only slight dissatisfaction very minor , some of the easy chairs are not very easy!! Especially when one comes to get out of them but maybe I'm getting a bit stiff with the encroaching years! Not really a problem..

Steve Ensor

We booked at very short notice & were really pleased with the cottage. The view from the lounge / dining room and two front bedrooms is stunning. We noticed other reviewers had mentioned the bathroom - with its very sloping ceiling - and yes this could be a problem for some - but not us The outside terrace was very useful and very quiet when we were there. The steps up to the terrace are a bit overgrown but not a problem.

Excellent location, lovely cottage. We were a party of 6 adults, the cottage has a very tiny shower/bathroom, not much room at all, a very tight squeeze, I only used this room once to shave and struggled with the lack of space. Luckily there is an outside 'eco' toilet (very cool) and outbuilding with shower, which was a great addition - two of use that stayed downstairs basically used this as our ensuite - the shower was fantastic, great power and plenty of hot water. We eventually found the TV, it is the size of a postage stamp! Could not believe a room that size had such a small telly...however, as it was so small, we did not turn it on for the whole week - we actually talked, read books and played board games, actually made the holiday more enjoyable! The sofa needs re-stuffing not that comfortable. We also found the lack of storage space in the bedrooms, especially downstairs a pain. The beds in ALL the rooms are amazing, extremely comfortable, we all slept like logs! If may seem a moaning review, however, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay at the same place again. OH, special thanks to Angie the housekeeper who actually called me when we were travelling down to see if there was anything she could do for us, i.e. had we forgotten anything - Also advised the house was ready before 4 pm if we arrived early.

Julie Johnson

Had a fabulous week . Stayed 21st to 28th January. The cottage was very comfortable and homely and from the moment we stepped through the door we all started to feel relaxed. Couldn't fault anything and we would recommend Our Cottage to all ages.

Jonathan Parlour

We were delighted with Our Cottage, it was exactly as advertised. Views from living room and two main bedrooms were superb. We are all fairly tall and managed with the upstairs bathroom and separate WC without much problem. The downstairs facilities, across the courtyard made up for it, accommodating the tallest of our group. After morning swims, a very short walk across the road to beach, it was straight back to the courtyard shower to rewarm, couldn't have been better. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the shower / utility room. Very useful as we had a couple of wet and windy days. The parking was actually easier than we expected. From 6pm until 10am it was often possible to park on the single yellow line outside Our Cottage. We were away most of the day exploring local beaches, NT houses and gardens, boat trips etc. Main car park, restaurants and pubs less than 5 minutes in either direction. When we did have an enquiry or request for additional services they were quickly attended to by the housekeeper or owners. All in all a great experience.

Lucy Norrey

What a perfect place to spend the week! The highlight has to be its location. You are quite literally a stones throw from the beach. Sitting in bed with a cup of tea whilst being able to look uninterrupted, straight out across the sea is really special. It's also only 2 minutes walk from the centre of town. The owners had left a personalised card, some sparkling wine and flowers for our arrival (a lovely and unexpected touch). The beds are superbly comfy (so much so that I'm now changing our beds at home!). The outside space is v practical with hose pipe for wetsuits etc but not the prettiest for sitting in. Showers are decent. With regard to constructive feedback: The floor and under the sofas needed a Hoover when we arrived (hairs and dust!) but there was one at the house so I did it myself. And it would be good to have a dustpan and brush (we couldn't find one) and an indoor clothes airer (it was raining so we couldn't hang stuff to dry outside!)

Our Cottage has a prime position and is more than adequate in its facilities. Special mention of the "outside loo" with its amazing vegetation - unique . Overall a very nice cottage and special mention of the housekeeping service - so helpful many thanks. My only slight criticism would be the seating provided - probably because I am stiffening up but did find the chairs and sofa challenging for getting upright! A very minor grouse and would not cause any problems. Thank you. E. McIntyre

Stayed at Our Cottage in May. It was everything we hoped for and more. Lovely comfortable cottage in a fantastic location with wonderful sea views. Would highly recommend.

Gordon Marshall

Perfect position, ideal for 4 persons in the cooler months. Every amenity required. Light, warm, full of information re the area. Good location for exploring at this time of the year. Will rebook.

We received an outstanding welcome to this superbly located cottage as the friendly and efficient housekeeper had made contact with us a day or so before arrival and was to learn that it was a special family re-union occasion and we were provided with a greetings card, gifts and flowers together with a special gift pack for our six week old grandson. The views from the cottage are stunning and encompass the entire bay of St.Mawes. It is a short scenic walk to the shops and to the castle whilst the pretty beach is a few steps from the door. The cottage is very cosy at night and with the benefit of a real fire. The buiding is full of character and thoughtfully furnished. The front bedrooms boast views of the sea and St. Anthony's Head. Opening the sash windows will provide the tranquil sound of waves lapping the shore. It was an idyllic break enjoyed by us all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Our Cottage and also had the pleasure of introducing the property to friends of ours from overseas. The property's location is fantastic and its (very) close proximity to a local beach and the village high street made it a very convenient choice for all the family.

We had a fantastic weeks stay in Our Cottage, this was our first holiday with 11 month old granddaughter Molly. we were joined by her mum and dad, Hannah and Matt, her auntie Charlotte and future uncle Gregor and her auntie Emma. Our Cottage accommodated us all perfectly and very comfortably. There was plenty of room for Molly to play safely as well as an enclosed courtyard and very sunny terrace. The views from Our Cottage across the bay were outstanding with plenty of boat activity we enjoyed watching the sun rise and set most days. For those in our party insisting on an early morning dip in the sea there is direct access to the beach. Our Cottage is well equipped, there are interesting pictures/photographs on the walls, which provide an interesting insight to the history of Our Cottage and people who have lived there. There plenty of interesting reading matter including an abundance of local guides and great board games. The bathroom accommodation worked well for us with plenty of hot water and we all enjoyed the Eden toilet very much. Our Cottage has great proximity to town, all amenities can be reached easily in minutes allowing us to get fresh bread and pastries in the morning, great Cornish pasties at lunch time and enjoy the local hostelries at night. We all cannot wait for the next opportunity to enjoy Our Cottages hospitality again - roll on next year.

Although the cottage could sleep eight the bathroom facilities, loo and amount of hot water could not accomodate this many people. Also it stated we were expected to clean the house including bathrooms and ovens. Given the amount of money I paid and the fact that this was not my own holiday house I would not expect to clean it before I left. The location was wonderful and the bedrooms were of good size ( although would have preferred at least one double bed) , the living room was also lovely and spacious and the table easily seated eight which was good.

Very pleased again with this property and ho0pe to return next year. Very useful having the bbq on terrace and generally a first class property. Excellent location and very convenient for the village and beach.

Wonderful cottage ideally situated on the seafront at St Mawes, with great views of the water and St Anthony's head beyond. Very comfortable and well maintained.

Fantastic location, and very comfortable. There was a Cornwallscottages sign in the window, which seemed to encourage people to peer in - embarassing. It was not made clear when we booked that we were expected to clean up at the end of the week - we were directed to the cleaning products! The bag in the Henry vacuum cleaner had burst - it had obviously not been emptied for months. Bins overfull and in a mess, which we sorted out. No TV as advertised.

a fantastic place with fantastic views, we have been coming to St Mawes for over 30 years and the views where the best. A couple of things could have been avoided the accommodation we felt wasn't clean, with the outside shower room and upstairs bathroom needing a good scrubbing (the Saturday afternoon was spent cleaning)!!!! The fire which we was told about DID through smoke into the lounge which was slight disappointing. The biggest problem which there cant be any excuses was the outside toilet had a broken seat which we informed the house keeper Sunday morning and NOTHING was done, with six adults and two children using one toilet was very trying at times. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the last point. regards Paul Shakespeare.

We found this cottage absolutely ideal as e have been regular visitors to St Mawes form many years, (the older members of the party first came in the late 50s!!) We have rented two other properties close to Our Cottage but as one of them is no longer available we were keen to find a similar location. We found the cottage very comfortable and were particularly intrigued by the grotto like-outdoo loo. No, not grotty I hasten to add but very useful. Also the raised terrace was made use of as we happened to hit the really good spell of July weather. Hope to be able to rent the property again in 2014 and I will be getting in touch shortly to reserve it. Many thanks. Elizabeth McIntyre Ps Also we found the response to our call for some plumbing drama was dealt with very quickly and efficiently.
