We visited with our young son and were really impressed by the comfort and cleanliness of Pendower Barn. It was a great spot with easy access to the coastal path. Plenty of parking and space inside, with a good shower and washing machine and dryer. Overall we really enjoyed it and will stay again.
A simple set up but has everything you need. Mattress too soft for me but that's just my preference.
What a lovely few days. Storm Dennis battered us while we were there but the cottage was very cosy and comfortable. It was in a lovely location too with nice walks from the doorstep. The owner had kindly left milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine to greet us. We were very grateful for that. The only negative was that guest towels had not been supplied in the 2nd bedroom. It made no difference whatsoever because we had our own with us. Thank you for such a lovely few days.
This cottage is well maintained, spacious and comfortable. It has all the amenities you would need and the owner kindly provides a small bottle of milk and wine on arrival which was a lovely touch after travelling and needing a quick brew before shopping. If you have dogs, this cottage has a very large garden which was enclosed so was safe for our spaniels which was a bonus. Great location for walking and beaches.
Absolutely loved pendower barn , so well equipped, beds so comfortable, basics all there , milk, sugar, tea, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing machine, all these so helpful, ohh and a bottle of wine . Communication with owner excellent, would definitely stay again and recommend . Thank you Kathryn x
This is a comfortable cottage which is in near walking distance to the coastal paths. A bottle of wine and milk on arrival was gratefully received. The accommodation is comfortable with thoughtful consideration if you have a dog with you. Excellent location for visiting the Roseland. Thank you!
The owner emailed me for permission to let the plumber in to mend the dripping kitchen tap, which I agreed immediately. This was on our first night. He didnt come during our weeks holiday. The tap was quite annoying. This is not the best customer service. I never recommend any product since everyone expectations are different.
A very nice cottage right on the coastal path. Highly recommended. Ideal location for those wanting to go on long walks along the coast and dog friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pendower barn.It was our first visit to this area of Cornwall. The barn was in a superb location with coastal walks nearly on the doorstep. The barn was well equipped with everything we needed to self cater for ourselves making it a welcome break.
Probably the best "rental " for a holiday that we have had , whatever the weather. I have known the Roseland area for over 40 years and will certainly consider this well equipped property for vacation in the future.
We had a wonderful few days at Pendower Barn. It is a beautiful place to stay and perfectly located for a walk to the local beaches, as well as exploring a little further afield. The house is incredibly clean with everything you could possibly need. The garden was a good size for our two large dogs to have a run around in. I really liked the fact that the fencing around the garden had been made more secure with chicken wire attached, meaning there was no way for the dogs to escape!
We had a very enjoyable week in this very comfortable and well equipped Barn and hope to return in the future.
Our stay at Pendower Barn was just what we were looking for to enjoy a 'dog's holiday' The accommodation was superb and the enclosed garden was just right for the three retrievers. Many thanks for the welcoming bottle of wine on our arrival and the much needed milk in the fridge! All in all, we could not fault our stay and definitely hope to be back in the spring. Many thanks Best wishes Andrew & Donna
Ideal location for costal walking as 10 minutes from the footpath. Close to beaches that are dog friendly, and the Hidden Hut which should not be missed, with huge ice creams good value for money. The cottage was well equipped, it could have done with four rather than two loungers, and a proper perminant barbecue rather than a small tin one.
We enjoyed our 2 week stay at Pendower Barn, there are some nice places to visit local & the dog friendly beaches are close.
Located superbly for exploring the Roseland Peninsula. Property itself is cozy with everything required for a comfortable stay. The complimentary wine and milk was a welcome surprise after a long journey
We booked Pendower Barn on the recommendation of my sister who's stayed there several times. I'm so glad we booked, it's a lovely place with a very homely feel. We felt welcomed on arrival with milk and a bottle of wine provided which were much appreciated. The barn has everything you may need on holiday, has a lovely enclosed garden and ample parking directly outside the property. It's location is its best feature, being half a mile from Porthcurnick via the coastal path or by road. Pendower is approximately an hours walk along the beautiful coastal path. We had a wonderful stay. Thankyou!
The enclosed garden a real bonus for our 2 border collies. Excellent walks from the doorstep. No WiFi provided due to technical issues but contact from owner to apologise and explain.
Well equipped property well located for exploring the Roseland peninsula with easy access to nearby beaches. Would recommend to anyone considering a holiday in the area. Dog friendly although we didn't have one.
Our 2nd visit with our dog. Well equipped, perfect for us regarding location, garden and parking. Will return next year, don't think we could find better. Annoyed that previous guests abused dog friendly facilities by not removing their deposits from the lawn, it's bad press for all responsible dog owners.
We have been renting properties for nearly 30 years. We cannot think of another property that is so well equipped. The owner has thought of everything a holiday maker might want. Even a spare lead and collar for a dog! It's easy to see why so many people want to return.
We loved the cottage, which was warm, comfortable and well equipped and in a lovely rural location with plenty of parking and a lovely secure garden. We were a little disappointed with the distance to the beach and local village. Technically, it was possible to walk to both, but for two couples in their 60's, one with a heart condition and one with leg problems, it was a bit further than the 5-10 minute walk! Luckily, we were able to park near the beach, but this may have not been possible in a busier season. Parking in the village is difficult and again the walk from the car park is not far, but not level or easy in the dark. Top marks to the housekeeper for responding immediately and rectifying a small plumbing problem during the week. We would recommend the cottage, but to do the walk you need to be fitter than us!
Our stay at Pendower barn was lovely - very restfull and relaxing. The accomodation is extremely comfortable and very dog friendly. So many small things had been tought about to make our stay perfect. The coastline is beautiful around there, with a 15 minute walk to the lovely Porthcurnick beach with the Hidden Hut .It's within easy driving distance of beautiful St. Mawes. with lots of local places to eat. This ws our third stay at the Barn, and we will definitely be returning.
Pendower Barn provided a good base to explore the area and walk the coastal path. Sufficient room for two of us - very peaceful. We were very grateful for the bottle of wine. We would recommend that guests bring a means of accessing the internet as certain instructions were lacking - the cooker (couldn't work out the main oven) and the woodburner. Although we have a wood burner at home, the model at Pendower Barn was somewhat idiosyncratic. Once we'd downloaded the owner's manual it was no problem. With luck (and a spot of prayer) the weather will be better for others which will obviate the need for the woodburner.
Just a quick get away but i was so impressed , will definatley re book . Fantastic value for money and the beach was lovely at pendower.
THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR STAY WHICH EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS WITH BOTTLE OF WINE MESSAGE OF WELCOME SALT AND PEPPER CLEANING PRODUCTS TEA AND COFFEE
My family recently stayed at Pendower Barn for a holiday and were delighted with the accommodation and the location. The accommodation was ideal for us with a young baby and 2dogs. We found the accommodation to be very clean and in very good condition and generally it created a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. With regards the location, within short walking distance was the coastal paths and nearby beach which enabled lots of exploring. With a short drive you were also within easy reach of local attractions. All in all we had a marvellous holiday and this was a great place to stay, we also really appreciated the options of having a travel cot and high chair which saved us lots of room on our journey. We would definitely recommend this place to others and would like to visit again.
Very comfortable barn in a great location. Loved the walk to the local beaches - about 15 minutes. We had lots of wind and rain but it must be a wonderful location in good weather. Secure garden for dogs too. Log burner seems to be a little tricky to get going. It doesn't roar away like our one at home.
We come to this area a lot and have stayed in lots of cottages and barns. This one was ideal for the dogs as it had a decent sized, fenced garden but an out door hose would have made life easier, especially when they were sandy. It was perfect to walk to Portscatho via Portcurnick beach although we now avoid this beach in the Summer as it's too busy. Pendower and Towan are the ideal beaches for dogs. The barn was fairly well equipped although the toaster didn't work unless you held it down and then it only toasted on one side, something that needs replacing. The oven only had one shelf and there were no oven gloves. I pulled out the one flat oven tray to cook a pizza on and it was covered in cobwebs and the mugs all needed washing before we used them as they were all stained. We did have an issue with the log burner when we turned up and had to try and use it because it was freezing weather but because it was cold it smoked the whole barn out. When the weather improved it was easier to use but everything did smell of smoke and the sitting room and kitchen do get cold in this weather, whereas the bedrooms were too warm. Apart from the niggles it was great for the dogs and we did all have a lovely week in our favourite place!
Location was perfect, we were visiting friends in Portscatho and also had some lovely walks on Porthcurnick Beach with our young Labrador. Cottage very well equipped with good quality and ample china, cutlery and glassware, also appreciated same quality of bed linen and towels. Comfortable sofas - in short everything we could have wanted and expected. Expect to return.
We booked the Barn being a last minute decision to have a stress free week before the Christmas rush. What a choice, it could have not been better far enough away from the main city's of Truro and St Austell, both an easy 20 minute drive, but an easy 10 minute walk to the beach and only 20 minute walk to the local pub 'Plume of feathers' worth a visit, with the Eden Project is within 45 minutes. On arrival there was the nice touch of a bottle of red and milk for a cup of tea and the fire was ready to light and the heating was on. Plenty of home comforts, lovely and warm (being November). Also found plenty to do and explore being a new area, having normally visited the far West of Cornwall in the past. .
Pendower is a nice property in a great location, just a short drive to the lovely Porthcurnick beach or a slightly longer walk. St Mawes is great for boat trips to Falmouth or Truro, and of course you have Portscatho with Tatams that probably serves one of the best cups of coffee in Cornwall, all in all first class.
we enjoyed our holiday at pendower barn and would be happy to stay there again. the location was excellent and the accommodation provided everything that we needed. my only criticism is that the duvet covers were too thick for the summer, and since it is not possible to open a window in the bedrooms, a thinner one would have been preferred.
We booked Pendower Barn as we loved the Portscatho area having visited friends staying in this area a couple of years ago. When we saw the location and the most important thing...they allow dogs, we booked it straight away as it had good feedback from previous visitors. The owner was very friendly in her e mails, and their were no problems booking etc. The price was reasonable also which was important. On arrival we weren't disappointed, the barn was clean and very well equipped, we stay in a lot of cottages and the kitchen especially had everything you could need. It was clean there were plenty of towels and there was a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge , a nice touch and wi-fi. Be aware the mobile phone signals on most networks especially Vodafone were very poor so bear that in mind, there is a phone at the house which allows incoming calls so we stayed in touch with family that way mainly. The only real downside to the cottage was the garden, it was enclosed and private but the grass was quite long and the patio area did not get the sun in the afternoon. The bedrooms only had doors instead of Windows that opened to the courtyard which you couldn't really sleep with open, if there had been a locking limiter or similar this would have helped a lot as it did get rather warm during the night. Having said that these are minor issues and didn't spoil our overall enjoyment. The cottage is ideally located for beach walks, we walked to Porthcurncik beach where the hidden hut was and ate lunch there a couple of days and a bit further on is Portscatho where there is a lovely pub called the Plume of Feathers, the food and beers there are very good. There are other walks in the area at St Just and St Anthony and St Mawes is a short drive away where there are plenty of shops and eateries. If you like this area then Pendower Barn is worth checking out
Very happy holiday, useful book recommending pubs and things to do. However, the bathroom needs a heated towel rail to dry towels on those summer days when the sun doesn't shine! Also a shaver/toothbrush charging socket would be very helpful. Otherwise all good!
Lovely stay at pendower barn, ideally situated to travel around & some lovely little places & beaches to visit in the area. The barn is well equipped, warm & cozy, with a lovely garden; the only thing that would've made our stay any better was if the wire fencing went to the top of wooden rails, but we did come prepared with a long line for the dog, but that would be my only niggle & we would deffinately go back.
Was really looking forward to staying, had cancelled last September due to a broken ankle..really enjoyed the week, visited lots of places, spent time with my daughter who lives in Newquay. Wonderful views on the coastal walk to Pendower Beach and back. My dogs were shattered every day.. still are. Barn was well equipped every thing had been thought of by the owners. Definitely looking at booking for next year, as tehre was so much we didn't get chance to do. Amazing fish and fresh produce down the road at Curgarral Farm, and a bakery a little further up the road, lovely bread, and tray bakes to take away.
Pendower was perfect for us and our two dogs. It's a great location as you can get anywhere on the Roaelamd very quickly. Loved the Hidden Hut for lunch and our favourite beach was Towan.
Had a great holiday here, very cosy great location for walking! Had lunch at the hidden hut, and had dinner at a few village pubs, lovely area and very quite relaxed hol, perfect for the dogs! Had problems with car and the owner was very helpful
Fantastic little barn - loved it there. comfortable with everything you need. Very cosy with the fire and good outside space for BBQ. Enjoyed the walk down to the fabulous Hidden Hut
This property was well located for many coastal path walks with our dog. It was in and out of the way peaceful location but still within easy access of the beaches in the local area. It is a little out of the way for local supermarkets the closest being in Truro however there is a small Coop in St Mawes. The barn itself is well equipped and very comfortable. The wood burning stove was a little tricky to get the hang of but eventually provided a wonderful warm room on a cold evening.
Pendower Barn was an excellent accommodation for us, Tony, Martin and our 2 retrievers Mabyn & Tirion. We loved the lay out of the rooms, a most comfortable snug with a really lovely wood burner. Having a good TV and the wi-fi was excellent. Bathroom fine, bedroom and bed very comfortable. The enclosed grass area was great for the dogs, we felt happy to leave them unattended. Parking and accessibility all really fine. Position just being off the main road splendid. Best of all was the short walk to the beach which we made every day, usually early evening after a day out and before we settled in for the evening. The Roseland area we found the best and much to our personal liking in all of the Cornwall we were able to visit in the week. An area we would definitely recommend to friends who would wish to visit Cornwall. It was unfortunate that for the first part of the week the Harry Ferry was closed. taking it later on when it had reopened made such a difference to getting about without having to go via Truro!! Of all things we were most happy about for our week's holiday was the fact that we had chosen Pendower Barn. Again, we would definitely recommend it as a base to anyone who wanted to enjoy a stay in Cornwall. With thanks for our experience with you.
Great stay in Pendower Barn. Extremely well equipped and comfortable. Ideal location. Very relaxing. And despite unexpected mild weather the wood burner was much appreciated.
Pendower Barn is a comfortable, clean holiday retreat. We enjoyed the closeness to the beach and coastal path. Wood burner fabulous on a winter's night.
Pendowner Barn contains all that is needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It is clean and well-equipped to cater for all your needs. The proximity to the beach was accurately depicted however, probably due to my misunderstanding, I did not find it close to Portscatho. It is about a ten minute drive to the village and due to the lack of parking available in the village only managed to get in there once during the four days we were there. Apart from that the location of the cottage is well situated for access to all parts of southern Cornwall. We travelled to Padstow and down to Newquay, Mevagissey and down to Land's End and St. Ivest with ease.
Have not been on holiday for a while so this occasion was extra special. This was our first holiday together since we met and we take away many happy memories thanks to a fantastic location and a wonderful holiday home which could not be faulted. We both are looking forward to the next visit.
Wonderful location - lovely property, small touches made the difference. Will definitely use again. Close to wonderful coastal path walks and great beeches. Also, extremely dog friendly which made all the difference to us.
Pendower Barn was a great base for us and our two young children for our week's holiday. It was perfect for the kids to play (and rest when they ran out of steam!), and was really comfortable and well-equipped for us too.
Our stay at the barn was fantastic, clean ,spacious , welcomed with a few words from the owner and a bottle of wine . A folder of things to do where to go was so helpful. Location for us was great out the way quiet but just what we wanted. We took our dog who loved it too so dog friendly would definitely go back to the barn again thankyou for a great stay
Our second stay at Pendower barn love location to porthcurnick beach portscatho.Great food at local pubs. Barn has been updated since staying 9 yrs ago. New kitchen woodburner, very comfy sofa bed.
Lovely Barn in great position for exploring the Rosealnd peninsular. You can walk to the beaches and coast path. Comfortable barn, Very enjoyable week.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Pendower Barn, first time on the Roseland and will be back, a short walk to the coast path and some lovely sandy beaches all close by. The barn is extremely comfortable and very clean as well as being great to bring along your dog. Highly recommended.
We found the location of this property very convenient for coastal path walking and enjoyed visiting the local beaches. The barn was well equipped and very comfortable. A secure garden was an added bonus with a dog! We would look to return next year.
Beautiful Barn everything you need excellent location fell in love with this Barn . Will be returning . All your needs catered for . Everything modern and of the highest quality
Lovely barn with a good location close to the beaches and coastal path. Great to find a place that welcomes dogs too! Would definitely stay here again.
Cleanliness, I could tell that it was a property that takes dogs. VFM the website mentioned a discount for a couple using one room but when I asked about this it wasn't available. The hot water was not turned on and the property instructions discouraged interfering with the controller.
What's not too like,...clean,well equipped and all round ideal for our(and the dogs) needs. Plenty of room for two adults, but there would still be plenty if there was more, lovely mezzanine, secure garden area, plenty of parking,
We had a lovely week at Pendower barn,It was warm and cosy with comfy sofas and beds.It is also in the perfect position to visit the many beaches in and around the area,Also fantastic fresh fish crab and lobsters caught on their own boat from the farm shop just around the corner. The hidden hut is walking distance away also.We stay at a self catering cottage once a year and they can be a bit hit and miss quality wise but Pendower barn is right up there as far high standards go.We will defintley be returning.
A lovely clean well equipped cottage , we and our two dogs enjoyed our stay very much . Nice rural location for nice walks and only 10 mins walk to the coastal path/ beach. Would definitely return and recommend to our friends and family.
The barn is really well equipped and very comfortable. It has a great location being just a short walk (in choice of two directions) to the coastal path. We were really happy to be able to leave the car and walk direct from the door to Portscatho, Portloe,Veryan, and Mellinsey Mill. We had lobster from Curgurrell which is really close and eats at the Hidden Hut which is also nearby. Rosevine is even nearer..and the Driftwood is nearer still though we did not get a chance to sample their fare (because there are so many familiar haunts to visit). (Don't remember Hidden Hut or Driftwood from last visit to Roseland 4 years ago.) This was our ninth trip to Roseland and it just keeps getting better! The Barn is an ideal location. PS I am not sure why I have to give a rating for "service during stay" since it is a self catering barn - I ticked OK to keep the computer happy. It doesn't mean anything to me...
