Enjoyed this cosy cottage with lots of original features, nicely decorated with a nautical theme. Lovely warm welcome from the owner. All very good. We would stay again.
We enjoyed our stay in Pink Cottage and loved its peaceful location. However, it was damp and musty on arrival. Kitchen was poorly equipped with utensils - fortunately we had taken a pair of scissors - and some of the crockery was cracked and/or chipped. Lots of hot water and heaters which we did need. Garden furniture was rather old and basic. However, none of this really detracted from our stay which we enjoyed. Thank you for changing our booking to meet our special situation. We had a lovely holiday walking the coastal paths.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this picturesque location. The cottage is simple and lovely to stay in and the enclosed garden is excellent if you have a dog. Low beams mean bumped heads for the taller fol though and when we arrived, there were one or two things that might have been thought of (only one tea towel, no washing up liquid etc.). We would certainly stay again.
Pink Cottage is an ideal bolt hole. It would be nice to have some improvements such as decent knives for the kitchen, nicer seating area with a decent table and chairs. The kids ask for a proper shower curtain. It holds a special place for us
We very much enjoyed our stay in Pink Cottage, we loved the area and would definitely book a holiday there again.
We stayed at pink cottage for a week in September with our baby. The cottage is comfortable and the location is excellent as you have many walks straight from the village - to Anthony's head, to porth, to Towan beach, the the ferry to St Mawes. The cottage was warm enough as there were a couple of heaters and an electric fire in the cosy sitting room. The communication from the owner peter was excellent before and throughout our stay and he brought over a high chair when we asked. There are only a couple of things that we wished were different. Firstly we had to bring our own ben linen and towels- I think for the price this should be included. We had so much stuff to bring that it was one extra hassle that we could have done without. The other thing was that there was no wifi! For some they want to get away from it so may suit but for us this was a big set back. I think in this day and age wifi is an integral part of how we live and relax- for listening to music, for watching movies (I don't think people use dvds anymore!), for reading the news papers, for looking up local information, for keeping in touch etc, etc. There's no phone signal in the cottage so I think wifi would really improve the stay at the cottage. There was a DVD player but only 6 (pretty awful!) dvds to choose from so bring your own dvds if you have any. Warning that there are low ceilings- my husband banged his head at least twice a day to his frustration (he's 6 foot 2) so that might be something to think about if you are tall- I think that took away from the comfort for him! All in all a beautiful location, a wonderful host, a perfect location - if there was wifi and bed linen/towels provided it would have been perfect!
Greeted by an overwhelming damp smell and a massive spider. Cobwebs and dirty carpets everywhere . Access to bedrooms like climbing Snowdon with a rope! TV switched off everyone we used the hairdryer or radio upstairs . Phone numbers for vendors , doctor etc useless as no mobile signal , no wifi , no phone in the property - good job we didn't have an emergency . No parking , lane too narrow to park a car. We went back early as the damp smell was overwhelming and made me feel ill. The slope on the floor in bed 2 was so steep it was difficult not to roll out of bed so didn't sleep well. One of the worst holidays I have ever had and has put me off coming back to Cornwall or staying on a cottage again .
Great stay in a stunning location. Cottage was comfortable with a nice garden. Very close to local beaches and lots of places to visit close by.
The Pink Cottage is a lovely cottage in a superb location with lots to do in the locality such that the car seldom moved. The owner is a very caring man who takes the time to visit, to make sure that everything is OK which adds great value to the experience.
We used the cottage as a Base to explore the area and had an amazing time. The cottage is perfect - so cosy and warm and the garden is perfect for dogs as totally secure. The location is so quiet and the walk along the coast allowed us to view seals sunbathing on a tiny cove. A wonderfully relaxing break and seeing the seals made my week!!
Stayed four nights in August with glorious weather, myself and two teenage sons. Peter was very welcoming and helpful. Watch out for low doorways and beams, otherwise very comfortable, lashings of hot water and reasonably equipped kitchen. Shopped in superstore at St Austell on way in. Perfect place for exploring Roseland Peninsula, fantastic walks, beaches and views. Absolutely no connectivity except TV and radio, so blissfully uninterrupted.
a basic package offering a peaceful and tranquil setting. A more complete range of cutlery might help, but that is not essential. We will return to enjoy the peace
Pink Cottage was as quirky as all of the reviews suggested. This did not deter us from booking as the location was just perfect for us. We were looking for an 'away from it all' holiday and this is exactly what we had. There is no parking outside the property which was a bit of a frustration when it came to unloading and loading a car as the cottage is in a single track lane. On both occasions when unloading and loading at the beginning and end of the holiday, I needed to move the car multiple times to let cars pass by. This was quite incredible really given that we were almost at the end of a no through lane! I guess we were just unlucky. Roadside parking just up from the property was not a problem during our stay. Our main disappointment was on arrival when we walked into the property and were greeted with what seemed like a very stale, doggy and/or damp smell, a badly stained lounge carpet and dirty cups, pans and oven racks etc. After opening a few windows the smell did improve and it did seem isolated to the lounge. The kitchen is adequately equipped although small with little/no work surface which can make food preparation difficult. The hob is electric so the burners take a long while to reach temperature and a long time to cool down with no indication that they are still hot! This did result in my other half getting a nasty burn on her wrist. Okay for adults to cope with but be wary of youngsters and the elderly with more tender skin! If you are prone to getting up in the night for the call of nature, be warned that the toilet is at the other end of the house which requires you to go down one 'steep' flight of stairs and up another. Not a problem for the fit and healthy but a potential problem for the half asleep and weary! All that said, we had a fabulously relaxing week in Pink Cottage. The scenery is stunning and we were very fortunate with the weather which allowed us to enjoy several hours every day on the local dog friendly beaches. I even managed a dip in the sea. Breathtaking in every sense of the word!. We reported our disappointment regarding cleanliness to Peter (the lovely owner) who came calling shortly after we arrived and he was apologetic for this and promised to speak with the cleaners. Upon leaving we hoovered the downstairs of the property ourselves and realised that the smell that greeted us on arrival may well have been the smell of the hoover bag - it was pretty high! I should also say that we had a Tesco delivery when we arrived and this went smoothly so given the remoteness of the location, something worth considering if you don't want to travel with lots of food supplies.
Pink Cottage is in a wonderfully remote part of Cornwall and you get a warm welcome from the owner. We loved the fact that there was no phone signal or internet - a total break from the outside world! The cottage is full of character, very comfortable (super beds), well equipped and the garden was excellent for our cocker spaniel. There are plenty of walks from the cottage, including around St Anthony's head (we saw a Peregrin Falcon) and down to Place where you can catch the small ferry boat to St Mawes or go crabbing/swimming off the safe jetty with children. There are no shops in the village but is only a short drive to the beach at Porth (Towan) and also the village of Portscatho where there is an excellent shop/bakery/butchers/pubs etc (Ralphs). And there you will also find the Porthcurnick beach and Hidden hut - we spent most of our week there. The beach close to the cottage (Porthbeor) was very hard to reach due to damaged steps during recent storms but our children loved Porthcurnick. The benefit of this cottage being off the beaten track is that the area is not overcrowed and the pace of life is very relaxing. A little pink gem!
Perfect property for us and our 2 dogs. Quirky cottage which we loved, very low ceilings but we were short enough to cope. Have booked a return for next year, loved it.
Had a great time - Fab location, really peaceful. Found it a bit unusual and a bit of an annoyance in this day and age to have to supply own bed - linen, but not a major issue. The large security deposit required also seemed an unnecessary burden.
A lovely quiet location surrounded by footpaths and close to the beautiful Porthboer beach. The cottage is cosy and perfect for a family of four. Lovely secure garden for dogs.
Given July weather in September it was an idyllic location. The cottage was lovely, quaint and quirky. Extremely peaceful setting and ideal for walking around the locality with some excellent beaches nearby. Beware low ceilings and steep stairs! Everything you need is in the cottage and a definite plus is no WIFI and no phone signal! Total peace.
Had a wonderful week at Pink Cottage and sun shone constantly. Wonderful quiet location so totally destressed. Took lots of food as I knew shops weren't round the corner. Children had a wonderful time also - the youngest took a bit of adjusting to lack of wi-fi/mobile signal but actually a good thing as we did activities & played games together as a family. Cottage quaint & well maintained but watch out for low ceilings if you're 6 foot or above - my husband had a few head bumps before he adjusted to cottage living! Modern fitted kitchen but very compact so takes a bit of juggling when cooking a family meal. Lovely modern bathroom & fab, powerful shower. Looks of fabulous beaches within picturesque walking distance and St Mawes only a 5 minute ferry trip across water (although price a lot more expensive now than a few years ago: £18 for family return - I remember when a single was 50p!). Also went sea fishing & kayaking from St Mawes - which kids loved - & lots of places to eat, so lots to do, if you're prepared to spend a bit. All in all a lovely holiday - would definatley consider rebooking for next year. x
A very comfortable stay, great location. Would have been helpful if teatowels were left for our use or if we had been told to bring our own. Peter v kindly accepted our online shopping for us which was v helpful. Would recommend the cottage, lovely outdoor spaces and v peaceful location.
