Enjoyed our short break and weather was lovely which helped. Only downside was the lumpy bed which spoiled my sleep but not my partners. Being able to walk into St Mawes was a bonus.
An excellent choice for a getaway tucked away in a Waterside boatyard. The property has lovely views from all windows and the balcony. The only drawback for me the steep stairs to the flat as I have a chest problem. However once their we sat for hours watching the hustle and bustle on the water and boatyard most interesting.
Really enjoyed our trip, just what we needed. Being on the boat yard was so nice. Lovely walks and very handy for St Mawes town. We did eat out every day so didnt really use the kitchen. Only suggestion would be new mattress for the bed.
As you open the bedroom curtains to a new dawn, you could be forgiven to thinking that you had slept on board a boat, youre that close to the water. A true retreat away from the bustle of the town. Polmaro is cosy and well equipped. We loved our stay here and felt safe post Lockdown with new procedures & protocols in place. Thank you.
Very comfortable, well equipped spacious flat with stunning views out over the creek and only a 10 min walk into St Mawes
Enjoyed the stay. The flat needs a larger television and a radio. The boatyard gave us lots of entertainment. Lovely views.
Polmaro was a comfortable well equipped apartment situated in a quiet location. However it was in walking distance of all the amenities that St Mawes had to offer. The views from the apartment were lovely and the boatyard that we overlooked by no means spoilt it but provided a lot of interest watching the comings and goings of the various boats. The Roseland Peninsula is a lovely area and this was a great base to explore it.
The apartment was overlooking a boatyard in a beautiful tranquil bay within walking distance of St Mawes. We were struck by how quiet and peaceful the location was. The apartment was in excellent condition and very clean with all facilities that one requires and good wifi connection.
Great location, fantastic views and very comfortable and well equipped. Good base to explore from and lots to do most in the area.
This was our 3rd stay in Polmaro although weve stayed many times on The Roseland Peninsula and each time we visit we love it even more. It is such a quiet, scenic spot yet within a 10 minute walk into St. Mawes, partly walking along the riverbank. The sitting room and bedroom with their views over the small ,quiet boatyard to the Percueil river are lovely and the apartment is well equipped. However, we do think that at least 1 tea towel should be provided. We bring our own now after having to buy one the first time. Secondly, we were not impressed by having to take black bin liners of rubbish up a hill to leave in a metal trailer where overnight the foxes had a feast. We understand that Cornwall Council do not recycle in that area but surely it would be better to have a large wheely bin in the boatyard for someone to take it up the lane on the collection day.
The property was very comfortable, well equipped and in an interesting location. The walks along the coastal path and inland were amazing with fantastic scenery, sightings of kestrels, buntings, whimbrels, oyster catchers and seals. The historical sites such as the castles at St. Mawes and Pendennis, plus the churches were fascinating plus the more recent sites connected with WWII.. If in need of retail therapy Truro was worth a visit with more historical places to visit. An area of Cornwall which is well worth a visit which suits a variety of interests.
Great accommodation, just right for 2 people. View is brilliant, even the activity in the boat yard is interesting. St Mawes is very nice, we di have beautiful weather which helps. Care needs to be taken with the cooker because it has lost nearly all its markings for the control knobs. We were told they were getting it fixed. A very nice stay in beautiful part of Cornwall
Seeking a week's peace and quiet and a top up of good, sea air ahead of the winter these 2 properties, at the Fairwater Boatyard, tick all the boxes. This was a return visit to this location, for my wife and I and, weather apart (over which you have no control!) it did no disappoint. The ever changing conditions around the Percuil River continue to fascinate. Comments in the Visitors Book all strike a similar note.
We have stayed at Freshwater Boatyard three times this year and have enjoyed each stay. The flats are comfortable and as we have a boat moored in view of the windows they are ideally situated for us. We would stay again.
This is a great place in a great location either as a base from which to explore the Roseland or just to take a relaxing break
The flat was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Also, nice and bright due to many windows. Although tucked away round the bay from St. Mawes harbour it was only 15mins walk from restaurants and public houses/hotels. The view from Polmaro on the first floor was amazing, especially at sunset and sunrise. Overlooking the small boatyard was a bonus for my partner who loves boats, especially the wooden ones which had been hand built by a chap on site years ago. We would recommend Polmaro to anyone who likes to have a bit of peace and quiet but in a short walk joins the hub of the village.
Our second visit -lower flT last time.Worth the extra cost to be above the parked boats, though they add to the interest.View is wonderful and while it is a working yard, the location really is peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. We wanted a restful time with plenty of walking opportunities, easy access to St Mawes sea front and local shops for essentials. The property was very good in all aspects as we expected having used the company previously. Polmara will stay on our list for future holidays.
A comfortable week spent in a beautiful location. We look forward to returning later in the year, when we hope the weather will be better!
Delightful, interesting surroundings with the boat yard - with its activities - and further estuary views.
Well located within walking distance for St Mawes and the Roseland. Comfortable and clean accomadation with friendly hosts.
Overall it is a very nice apartment , though I would advice a safety rail in the shower for Oldies and small children .I must say though that this is a lovely apartment in a lovely location.
This was our second stay in Polmaro,St Mawes and we loved it even more. We never tire of exploring the Roseland area and Polmaro is excellently situated for local walks or trips by ferry to Falmouth and Truro so it is very relaxing and a treat to leave the car behind! The beaches (there are many nearby) are sandy and beautifully clean .There is every thing you need in the apartment and it is a wonderful sight to watch the sun rise and set over the creek in the river.
I discovered Polmaro on the internet. I was immediately impressed in our arrival as the view is simply superb. Don't be put off by the fact that it is within a working yard as tgat merely added to the enjoyment if the ever changing view. The accommodation is a very good standard, clean and with just about everything you would expect and the owners have obviously taken care to provide everything you need. There is limited wifi cover although I expect that is mire due to location and certainly it didn't spoil my week ! The owners are available and approachable but not in the slightest bit intrusive. It a reasonably flat 10 min walk into St Mawes and definitely the best way to see this stunning area. It would be quite possible to park the car on arrival and not get back into again until the journey home. Overall a lovely little bolt hole for two. Fantastic. Thanks
We wanted a waterside location with a good view, and a place where we could store and readily launch our kayak. Polmaro fitted the bill superbly. The staff could not have been more helpful. Our only regret was that the lower flat Pelyn which our son and wife had booked was suddenly cancelled but fortunately they managed to book somewhere nearby. Both flats are within a very busy working boatyard with boats being cleaned, sanded, painted, repaired , craned and launched by tractor so it is sometimes quite noisy during the working day - especially perhaps at the beginning of the boating season when we were there. Unlike many boatyards which can be nautical junkyards - which have their charm! - Freshwater Boatyard is wonderfully "shipshape and Bristol fashion" - clean, uncluttered and well organised. We happily envisage returning later this year and certainly next.
This is a nice apartment for 2 people only thing missing was wi fi it is sometimes nice not to have it but a week was too long!! everything else was fine. Nice walk into St Mawes The Victory pub was good value for money . The boatyard was not noisy and a lovely view over the river there is always something to watch on a river! All in all a lovely break
Although we found it a bit difficult to find at first the flat and view were beautiful.st Mawes was lovely. The surrounding areas I.e beaches were within 5 miles which was great,as we did it want to spend our time driving. also the ferry trips were restful.
LOVELY QUIET LOCATION, even in a boatyard !!!! Pillows were extremely hard and difficult to sleep on ,maybe one soft and one hard might be an option. A handle rail in the shower too for us oldies!!!! in case of slipping. But otherwise a good place to stay.the only other point was that there are new settees there covered in fabric , it would be an idea if arm caps were put on them to save them from spillage and throws. on the seating part.
Only one bath towel provided although the cleaners left a written message to the owner and I also spoke to him myself. Mark did say he would sort it out but nothing was done about it all week. The grouting in the shower had a lot of mould on it. I sorted that out with some bleach. When I opened the freezer compartment in the fridge it was completely solid with frost and ice. You could not even get a packet of peas in there. After half an hour with my wife's hairdryer I managed to defrost it. There was even an ice tray and a plastic bag of ice cubes hidden in the middle. The outside security light was not working and climbing the metal outside steps in the dark was quite dangerous especially after a rain shower in the dark as they were quite slippery. Apart from these criticisms the property was very good and well appointed.
We arrived later than expected( due to traffic hold ups en route) so were pleased to find the key left in the door for us and the apartment and its location excellent. There are plenty of lovely walks and footpaths well signposted and it is just a 10 minute walk into St.Mawes where you can catch the ferry to Falmouth or Truro. The pubs are well worth trying for food and drink. The view from the apartment overlooks the small boatyard and creek and is very picturesque, especially when the sun is rising and setting. Thoroughly recommend.
A great flat fully equipped with everything you need. Location perect. Peaceful retreat. Apreciate its on a working boatyard but 2 nights alarms were triggered it would have been nice if someone had knocked on the door the next day just to say why
This review might sound a little critical but it is made in respect to dozens of previous renting. When we arrived the heating was not on so the place was cold. The owner only lived next door but did not make himself known to us throughout our stay. In the event of bad weather there was little to entertain in the flat games, library etc. However, the flat was warm and comfortable and well located. One other point is that there is no wi-fi or telephone reception this could be a problem if there was an emergency. St Mawes centre is about a half hour walk. St Mawes was fantastic a great landlord at the Victory Inn where we saw in the New Year culminating with a firework display on the Quay. The Cornish people so friendly. A massive selection of good places to eat all sourcing local ingredients. So much to do in the area. We had a great week so temper my minor criticisms. The flat visitor book indicates the nearly everybody, including us, enjoyed their stay and made positive comments.
We had a very enjoyable holiday and the weather for October was super. No complaints at all with the accommodation it was first class with everything you need. Fantastic views from the living room window and the small balcony had a table to sit and enjoy your evening glass of wine. Lots of entertainment watching the going on's in the boat yard and plenty of near by places to visit.
Good base for walking and exploring..So quiet and peaceful New sofa promised Needs a lounge side light, broom and customs and brush!! All else fine. Loved the crisp white bedding.
A lovely weeks stay in a super location. Out of the hustle and bustle of St Mawes but with plenty of enjoyable action going on in the boatyard beneath us. A fair walk to shops and harbour area (20 mins approx stroll). Weather as expected with sunshine and rain - but mild for the time of year. A really lovely apartment, well equipped and spacious with lovely views - needs a more comfortable sofa (apparently on order!) WiFi access would be a bonus.
location stunning with excellant views with a lovely walk into st mawes . polmaro is a great base to stay for all the local amenities can not wait to return
Our first time at polmaro, great location but cleanliness and condition let it down. The bed settee was broken causing the cushions to slide forward making it awkward to sit comfortably. The other settee was also ready for updating. We did inform the owner about the broken settee, he said he didn't know about it but after reading other reviews we found out it was broken two months before we arrived. The cooker extractor hood didn,t work, and also the dvd player. The place lacked a good clean which was a shame because the location was great, the views over the water are wonderful with the boats and a nice 15mins walk into st mawes.
Will be looking to book again. It was our 1st visit to St Mawes. Polmero was a very good choice and we will stay there again. The sofas could do with a good clean under the cushions. I went looking for my glass case so would not have looked otherwise. To make it extra comfy the odd blanket and extra cushions would help.
There were not enough black sacks. Ovenproof dishes would be helpful, there were none.. The left hand leg on the sofa bed settee was defective. Nevertheless a very good week and hope to come again.
Very pleased with the apartment, especially it's location and amenities. Had a great stay helped by the fcat that the weather was okay for the main part. Only minor point to raise was that it could have done with a few useful items such as broom, dustpan and brush and larger saucepan. However, must stress these are only very minor points and didn't in any way detract from the holiday.
This was our third visit to Polmaro and we were disappointed with the standard of cleanliness this time . The floor had clearly not been hovered properly and when we attempted to clean it we found that the Vacuum cleaner was full to the brim . The Sofa bed was broken so badly that you could not sit on it never mind use it as a bed . It is all beginning to look a little tired and in need of a make over which is a shame because the location is brilliant .
Lovely views, fabulous quiet location, very much enjoyed watching the low key activities in the boatyard beneath from the balcony and looking out over the boats moored in the estuary.
We found it all very nice only down side was the settee that changed into a sofa bed was very uncomfortable to sit on in the evenings, so if the weather was bad you would have to use the kitchen chairs, as older people this not very good.
Given our circumstances, the flat was perfectly suited. The location being waterside and with a pontoon it meant we could be picked up by boat without hassle. It also meant that each morning could have been spent on the balcony, breakfasting or lunching in the sun. The flat was also the perfect size as there were just the two of us. It also had parking, which is not often the case in Cornwall and was within striking distance of St Mawes without having to pay St Mawes prices. It's also nice to be a little way from the throng.
Polmaro is a lovely Peaceful apartment with wonderful views. It also has a lovely coastline walk into St Mawes . But the main point is that it is comfortable and has every thing you need for a relaxing holiday.
Good accomodation, well equipped and comfortable. Super location, with a 10 minute walk into St Mawes. Enjoyed the view from window, watching all the comes and going of the various boats. A great hoilday location.
1st time in Cornwall & we wanted to tour around. Whilst St Mawes was beautiful, it felt a little isolated for us. Local people were extremely friendly & there Is a selection of nice restaurants close by. Apartment was clean, spacious, warm & well maintained with a good range of kitchenware. Views across the boatyard are beautiful, even with boats moored right outside. Owners are attentive and friendly - residing next door which is reassuring.
Very enjoyable stay in a small 1 bed first floor flat ideal for two, well fitted and well equipped. Very peaceful location overlooking the estuary. The working boatyard immediately in front of the flats did not cause us any disturbance - it was quite interesting watching men "messing around in boats". Spent our 3 days taking journeys on the various ferries from St Mawes and Falmouth using a pre booked 3 day "Mussel card" which we would thoroughly reccommend.
Superb location with good access. Points to note are; The lounge furniture is not very comfortable, especially the seat that converts into a sofa bed. The mattress on the main bed is too thin to be comfortable. A salt and pepper cruet would have been welcome. The shower unit squeals on the ideal temperature setting and the cubicle tiling needs. The bad spell of weather we experienced during our stay probably made the above points more noticeable but we did enjoy staying at Palmaro with the wonderful view over the river and interesting location.
I liked Polmarro very much but found the duvet far too hot. Could there possibly be a lighter one and maybe a blanket for chillier nights? I would also like to see something supplied to clean bathroom basin. It is a good base for walks and boat rides.
would love to stay again
Polmaro is an ideal location as it is near the shops and has a lovely walk into St Mawes itself. The apartment was very comfortable and well stocked .and had everything you needed .
Perfect spot for relaxing with wonderful views of the river/estuary and boats bobbing about on the water. The accomodation is well appointed (we cooked twice) and a real home from home. 10 min walk to St Mawes harbour and choice of restaurants, with Victory Pub (good quality pub food) and the Idle Rocks (terrace and views to die for although top end pricing for food). 2nd year for us and we will be back
