Lovely property, very well presented and spotlessly clean. This was our second stay. Sadly, we were disappointed with what can only be called the penny pinching of the items supplied i.e only one dustbin liner in the bin (no spare ones supplied), no dishwasher tablets, minimal soap in the dispensers in the bathrooms (unusable). in addition, (especially as we were staying over Christmas), we had hoped we may have a festive welcome. We had a few UHT milk sachets and motorway twin packets of biscuits supplied. Disappointing. Also, not a Christmas bauble in sight. I really think a little more thought and care should have gone into making us welcome.
Thimble Cottage is a beautiful cottage situated in a perfect location within the harbour village of St Mawes. The cottage has been thoughtfully decorated and feels very homely. A perfect location near pubs and restaurants.
Loved the cottage. The location is really good and it is well equipped. The only problem we had was the workmen from next door (we were only notified if this 4 days prior to arrival!!) which meant we had to get up extremely early as they arrived quite noisily at 7.30am , loud drilling and banging which continued until at least 4.30pm this spoilt it for us.
Weve just returned from a week long stay at Thimble Cottage. We had a lovely time despite the weather being a bit hit and miss. The cottage couldnt be any better located if you want to ditch he car and walk to the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants. Parking is a 2 minute walk away and cost us £30 for the whole week. Car park is safe and secure too. The cottage itself is very well equipped and perfect for us and our two twelve year olds (strong WiFi!). We loved how theyve manage an en-suite to each bedroom. Although theres no garden, the courtyard out the front door with seating area is great for watching people go by, storing wetsuits etc I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone planning a visit to St Mawes. My only criticism would be that the bedding could do with a refresh, especially the pillows. Aside from that 5/5!!
Fantastic location close to the heart of the village and the beautiful harbour. Great choice of restaurants and pubs nearby. Cottage had everything that you could need.
Our second visit to Thimble cottage and we were not disappointed. The cottage has a lovely homely feel and has everything you need for a great holiday. A real bonus is having two bathrooms. The King sized bed is so comfortable, and the views of the boats out of the bedroom window first thing in the morning was a real pleasure.
Our 2nd visit to Thimble Cottage and it was just as good as the first. A lovely comfy cottage with everything you need with gorgeous views from front windows. Excellent location and close to all amenities. We loved it.
Thimble cottage was decorated to a very high standard. It had everything we needed and was of high quality. I would definitely book again
We enjoyed a very good holiday at St Mawes and the cottage was very conveniently placed so everything you needed was in easy reach. The decor and finishing touches were very thoughtful ( i.e. echos of the seaside) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and hope to return in the future.
Overall we loved our time at Thimble cottage and are considering booking again for next year. As people who book UK seaside houses every year, we would like to be completely honest and say we felt that the house probably needs a little 'sprucing' up as it felt a bit 'tired' in places. I noticed this more in the kitchen to be honest as that's where I spent quite a lot of time. We both suffer with poor back issues and found the sofas uncomfortable. For such a sweet little house it is extremely well equipped with everything you could need for your holiday and we appreciated touches like the beach chairs and beach toys etc. I have fed back today that there was a problem with the main bedroom ensuite shower which made a terrible noise when it had been running for a while and also a dripping down pipe outside the front door. Even though it doesn't have a big garden, I loved and appreciated the outside space and beautiful pots which were well cared for. Overall we would give this property a GOOD rating and with a bit more TLC and better sofas, it would get an Excellent from us.
We spent a wonderful, relaxing week here in Thimble Cottage. The beds were really the most comfortable I had ever slept in, and the shower was great. I would definitely return here in the future.
This is the fourth year we have stayed at this cottage and we hope to return again next year. It is in a perfect location with beautiful views across the water and within walking distance of a good number of places to eat. The cottage is well-equipped and nicely furnished/decorated. It is a perfect base for exploring the area.
We have stayed at Thimble Cottage four times now and hope to return next year. The cottage is well-equipped, cosy and entirely meets our requirements. The position is ideal for the harbour, shops, pubs and car park.
Thimble cottage is a lovely old cottage with views of the sea from the bedrooms you also get a glimpse of the sea from the little courtyard, cottage is in a central location & a short walk to the car park. The kitchen is small but very well equipped & the cottage has everything you need for a self catering holiday. Weather was very warm & sunny during our stay which may have highlighted some areas which looked & felt a little tired & could benefit from a extra clean or coat of paint.
Our second visit to this delightful cottage. It was very attractively decorated and all crockery, cutlery and kitchen implements were good quality. Comfortable beds and good bed linen and towels. Great situation. Would hope to stay again.
Really nice cottage, light and spacious. Probably not suitable for people over 6ft as you might be bit dodging beams to much. Great time had and we would definitely return.
Thimble Cottage is a lovely seaside themed cottage, beautifully appointed & well equipped. It's situated in the middle of St Mawes within a stone's throw of the sea. We had a fab long January weekend there, warm & toasty with the 2 log burners. No big negatives, only 2 things you need to be aware of: 1) the twin bedroom has no wardrobe or drawers so you need to live out of your bag which has to go on the deep window ledge as there is no floor space! 2) the path from the cottage leads straight onto the road , no pavement, which could be busy in Summer. Difficult with toddlers. Cars need to be parked in the village so budget for parking fees. A lot of thought and love has gone into the restoration of this old building and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thimble Cottage is brilliantly situated, very close to Summer's beach and the village of St Mawes. It is nicely presented, fresh and clean with a nautical theme running throughout. We had a wonderful week exploring the peninsular.
A great little cottage in a great location, right by the beach and town, but setback from the main road. St. Mawes has lots to see and do right on the doorstep. The castle, kayaking, ferries to Falmouth, Place and others. The weather was mixed, as it always seems to be in Cornwall and Devon. The dishwasher packed up, repair was not until the following week. But all in all a great holiday and we would return again.
This is the third time we have stayed at Thimble Cottage as we enjoy the location and love the cottage. We have booked to stay again next year and would definitely recommend it.
l would recommend this cottages, as soon as you walk in you feel at home. everything you need is provided very very clean. only downside only one wardrobe living room was one of the best we stay in very comfy sofas. the view from the windows beautiful parking easy and St Maws is great plenty of pubs and restaurants, Access to everywhere within an hour lovely road to drive one.. only one thing wrong with our stay of a week its was not long enough. stay in lots of cottages this was brilliant.
Great location, comfortable cottage and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Thimble Cottage provided a cosy welcoming and centrally located place to stay. The cottage provided all essentials and some extras the coffee, tea, milk etc were most welcome. The only slight minus were the night storage heaters, it could be a bit cool of an evening, there were log burners there but I didn't see anywhere to buy wood, though must admit didn't look very hard, never dealt with a log burner so didn't want the hassle. I did look at the information book for other things but didn't see anything about the wood burners though didn't look specifically for that so there may have been information about them. When staying in the Lake District last year the owners left a few bags of wood in the shed and a note of the charge per bag, so when leaving the keys could pay. I know at Thimble Cottage keys left in safe box, but when paying for cottage maybe visitors could request wood to be left and pay for it then, or info where it can be bought from and if no transport, if it can be delivered. Just a thought, though this info could already be in the info book at the cottage. Many thanks for a lovely stay. Karen and Brenda
My son and I stayed in Thimble Cottage for a week. It was small and perfect for the two of us. The location was ideal. A couple of seconds to cross the road and climb down the rocks to the sea, a two minute stroll to the coop. Our favourite part of every day was the evenings; St Mawes became peaceful and empty and we would walk to Summer Beach and enjoy the setting sun skimming the perfect stones across the waves which gently lapped the shore. We enjoyed using our falmussel cards to explore the area by boat and by bus. Thimble cottage was well kitted out too! We baked cookies and made our meals with ease, everything was clean and usable.
This was our fourth time staying at Thimble Cottage, we've already booked again as we love St Mawes and this cottage is a great place to stay
Stayed in Thimble Cottage over the 2016/2017 New Year celebrations for one week. The property has been skilfully and tastefully modernised without losing it caricature. The log burners make the cottage nice and cosy in the cold winters evenings. Cannot fault the Cottage we had the most enjoyable stay. Thank you for make this Cottage available for our stay.
Lovely cottage, so cosy and had everything we needed. Loved seeing the sea from the bedroom window. We had a lovely relaxing short break in the beautiful St Mawes. Hope to return soon.
If your looking for a cottage where there's lots to do in the daytime but you want a relaxing quiet retreat at night with a fabulous hotel opposite you and great food all within 150 yards this cottage is for you. The cottage has sea views from both bedrooms and the sea can be seen from the kitchen and all downstairs rooms. The cottage is lovingly decorated. We hope to come back soon.
We stayed at Thimble Cottage again as we enjoyed it so much last year. The location is ideal and the cottage has been beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished. A perfect place to stay.
We had a very comfortable stay. The cottage is thoughtfully and tastefully appointed. The only "niggle" is the lack of a parking space but the location does make up for this. It was our second stay and once again lived up to our expectations. The sun shining all week was the icing on the cake!
Its the second time I've stayed at Thimble Cottage in 3 months (i loved it that much!!). I've been coming to St Mawes for years and years but only recently discovered Thimble Cottage and i am so glad i did! Its beautiful renovated and gives a real cosy feeling. Its rather small but perfectly formed although those ~5ft7" and above will have to watch their heads! The location is perfect, and i was a huge fan of literally walking the 5 meters to Idle Rocks for cocktails and a gorgeous dinner. Cant wait for our next return!
Thimble cottage is lovely and superbly located in the heart of St Mawes. It is well equipped and a generally high standard. There are two en-suite shower rooms which is great. The only real downside is the lack of a wardrobe in bedroom two, which isn't a problem for parents with children but is for four adults sharing.
This was my fourth week in Thimble this summer, April to September. Great Cottage, very comfortable, clean and well equipped . Location of the cottage by Sumners beach is an added bonus, close to all shops etc..in StMawes Tony Emsworth, Hampshire
We stayed in Thimble Cottage at the beginning of August 2015 and had a great holiday. After two years of wet camping holidays we booked the cottage so we could actually have a holiday rather than an endurance event. The cottage certainly exceeded our expectations. On arrival we found the cottage clean, beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished and best of all well equipped. In addition to the usual kitchen equipment the cottage had items such as a picnic rug, Cornwall monopoly (loved by my 7 year old), Internet access, camping chairs and we used the provided high chair and travel cot for our 18 month old. The outdoor courtyard was perfect for keeping our wetsuits and inflatable canoe. The location of the cottage is fantastic enabling an almost car free holiday. It was a quick step across the road to launch the canoe or short stroll towards the habour for fish and chips or supplies from the St Mawes shops. For those wanting to visit with toddlers, please note that that stairs has an open side. The courtyard has a lockable gate so that little ones cannot wander into the road.
We gave Thiimble Cottage ten out of ten for everything, cleanliness, position, facilities, kitchen equipment etc.. It was ideal for everything St Mawes has to offer in the way of a wide selection of shops & pubs.
We really enjoyed our stay at Thimble Cottage. The cottage has been beautifully decorated and furnished and is very well equipped. The location is perfect, being close to the car park, harbour, pub and shops. The only slight criticism is that there is very little storage in the second bedroom (ie no wardrobe or chest of drawers) However, this would not deter us from returning. We would love to stay there again and hope to do so in the future.
Thimble Cottage was everything as portrayed on the website. It was a delight to step into such a characterful cottage, tastefully decorated & ideally situated in St Mawes. The standard of cleanliness was excellent & all our requirements thoughtfully catered for. To be able to sit a few feet from the waters edge was idyllic. It was the perfect holiday cottage & we couldnt fault it in any way, we simply loved it. Keep up the high standard. We will definitely return to Thimble Cottage. Rosalind & Michael Weaver - Harpenden
Great cottage in ST Mawes very clean and great location, nice and cosy too with log burners etc... Our second week this year at Thimble another week booked in June, we would throughly recommend..!
As soon as we arrived at Thimble Cottage we knew we had booked into the perfect place for us. The cottage has been thoughtfully decorated and has such a warm and homely feel. St Mawes is already a very special place for us, but this is the first time we have stayed in a cottage there (usually we camp up at Trethem Mill, also highly recommended) and staying in Thimble Cottage, which we felt was so perfectly decorated to our sort of taste made it feel even more special. The log burner helps add to the cosy feel and the location is superb. Loved cooking breakfast with a sneak peak of the sea from the kichen window!
We had a fantastic stay in the most beautiful cottage. Everything we could want for a relaxing stay down to magazines and fire lighters. Seconds from the water I will definitely be going again.
We stayed here for Christmas and the tiny cottage was excellently located for crisp walks along the beach or quay or ferry trips over to Falmouth. St Mawes is a very friendly village and has some lovely pubs and hotels as well as a few little shops too. The cottage is welcoming and cosy and the wood burners are a nice touch, especially in the winter (buy wood/smokeless fuel/kindling etc. locally). The kitchen is very small, but just so well planned and has everything you could need. I cooked several meals, including a full Christmas dinner. The beds are really comfortable and the decoration throughout is very contemporary. Although it has no parking on site, in the winter there is plenty of free parking nearby, although parking can be bought by the week in the high season. All in all a fantastic break for us and our two teenage daughters.
We really enjoyed our stay at Thimble Cottage, it was beautifully presented, however, we did feel that the cleaning company are letting the owners down for example hair in the bottom of the shower. one useful addition to the kitchen inventory would be some food tongs
Wonderful cottage, St mawes is beautiful we had the beach on our doorstep. We had great food... There are lots of places to visit and we fortunately had gorgeous weather... We can't recomend the cottage highly enough. Thank you
A very nice cottage in a great location. Near to hotels and restaurants but very quiet. Accommodation in good condition with everything you need provided.
Thimble cottage was just perfect, I could quite happily live here. Tucked away just over the road from the sea. We had a fantastic week. Couldn't recommend this lovely cottage highly enough. Very well equipped. Pictures were good, even better in realilty. Well done to the owners for making it such a perfect holiday home.
We feel very lucky to be one of the first groups of guests staying in gorgeous Thimble Cottage. It has been lovingly restored and refurbished recently into a beautiful little bolt hole by the sea.Much love and attention has clearly gone into furnishing the interior to a very high standard with lots of lovely little added touches. We have had the most fabulous holiday there, from our arrival by water taxi to our departure by RIB.Our entire holiday there was car free - recommend the Fal Mussel Card for getting around on the ferries. We visited Falmouth Marine Museum,Trelissick Gardens, walked to the church at St Just, relaxed in Lamorran House Gardens followed by Afternoon Tea at Tresanton. We took the Place Ferry followed by a coastal walk which took us to the little church and to the St Anthony Lighthouse. The children enjoyed crabbing, swimming in the sea and rock pooling. The Take Out at the Watch House provides delicious food and we also had a great meal at the Rising Sun.We had drinks and tapas at The St Mawes Hotel and cocktails at The Idle Rocks Hotel. The local bakery is to be recommended as is Cafe Chandlers for fresh croissants and pastries in the morning to eat in or take away back to cottage for breakfast - best coffee in the village at Chandlers! You can buy locally caught fresh seafood at the trailer on the quayside and there is a good local butcher. We had great away days to the Eden Project and St Ives too. Would holiday back at Thimble Cottage in an instant!
