This is an extremely well-equipped and comfortable property and we would have no hesitation in booking it again. We are concerned, though, that the 'pub' next door, which is being refurbished, may be very popular and therefore noisy.

A perfectly habitable cottage, only 5 minutes walk to the small bay at Portscatho. The facilities were more than adequate and comfortable. Separate garden might be an issue in the summer, for some, but for the Easter holidays it wasn't. Plenty of walks (direct from the cottage) in the area, with maps and routes available at the cottage. Having only been to the North of Cornwall before, the location and area in general is fantastic. Plenty of places to visit like St. Mawes, church at St. Just-in-Roseland and the Eden Project. Lots of beaches as well, in particular Towan (5 minute drive), where we were lucky to see one of the resident seals. Cottage very well equipped, with three bathrooms and plenty of space. Highly recommend!

A last minute lucky escape to this wonderful house within easy walking distance of the coast and beach. It was so relaxing from the moment we arrived - beautiful coastal walks, great coffee stops and eateries and lots to do around the area. Special mentions to The Kings Head at Ruan Langhorne and Pandora Inn were we enjoyed evening meals. Great place to stay and take boat trips etc. Property was perfect for us all.

This is a great holiday cottage with lots of space for the family. The parking and garden are across the road but this wasn’t as issue and we would stay at this cottage again.

What a lovely quaint and comfortable cottage Turnpike is. Fully equipped and spacious and brilliantly located for discovering the rest of this part of beautiful Cornwall. We will definitely return.

We stayed here in June 2021. Six adults plus a dog. The cottage is really lovely. Beautifully clean, nicely appointed with good showers and beds. The lack of an on-site garden might be an issue if you had small children but we were out a lot and used the large adjacent green if the dog needed a quick walk. The surrounding area was lovely with lots of scenic walks. A five minute walk down the hill into Portscatho gives you a well stocked (but expensive) shop, a cafe, pub, harbour club and Tatums coffee van who do excellent pizzas Thursday to Saturday. The walk back up the hill is not for the faint hearted but burned a few holiday calories. Would not hesitate to recommend Turnpike Cottage. We had a fabulous stay.

We (four adults and a dog) have just spent a very enjoyable week in Turnpike Cottage. The house is light and airy & well equipped with a large & spacious dining kitchen, a quaint lounge with a beautiful log burning fire and very comfortable beds. It is a large & unusually shaped property and we all were very impressed by the amount of space. On the down side there is very little outside area, although there is a large public grassed area to one side of the house. The village of Gerrans has a beautiful church just across the road but no shops, just a pub next door. We can recommend Portscatho Stores just down the road. It is very well stocked and sells delicious pasties and pastries and the very steep walk back up the hill to the cottage, certainly helps burn off the calories. We spent many evenings in nearby St Mawes with its amazing views and many bars and restaurants. All in all the Roseland Peninsula is a beautiful place to explore the true Cornwall away from the crowds of the busy towns..

I spent my 60th birthday at Turnpike cottage. Could not fault it. Clean. Homely and welcoming. We all enjoyed our stay. Thank you gx

A great stay in a lovely cottage. We were met with a collection of goodies which was much appreciated. The property was spotless very comfortable. It was spacious with an excellent kitchen was superbly equipped. The 3 shower / bathrooms were very useful and there was plenty of hot water.. The bedrooms were also spacious and very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The 2 lounges with 2 televisions proved very useful. There was an extensive library of books and dvd's. Parking across the road with a garden was also a bonus. Being close to Portscatho meant we were ideally placed for a selection of places to eat though there wasa steep walk back uphill to the cottage! The pub across the road proved to be very handy. We love the beaches and coastal walking so again the cottage was a great location for this. Driving to various locations was easy from here. Falmouth via the King Harry Ferry a highlight.

We spent a fabulous week at Turnpike cottage and were very lucky to have sunshine all week. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Cottage spacious but then there was only two of us. For us the location was perfect however some might find the steep hill down to Portscatho a challenge.

Very well equipped, spacious and comfortable cottage. Beautiful part of Cornwall, easy beach access.

Just returned from 10 days in this lovely cottage, it did not take us long to settle in. Kitchen very well equiped, lounge comfortable, double bedroom very spacious. Everything as described, garage across the way with parking, not a problem. Location was particularly good for us with walking from the door, bus to St. Mawes or Truro, good shop and cafe down the road in Portscatho. Easy walk to the sea, also ferry from St Mawes to Falmouth, The Hidden Hut not far away and The King Harry Ferry 15 mins drive away. We hope to be back next year, it is perfect for visiting the family in Portscatho.

Excellent communication from the team Highchair provided not ideal for a 6month old baby, otherwise travel cot great (though we had to hunt in the cupboards to find it) Cute welcome package on arrival More information surrounding incredible corner shop and restaurants beforehand would have been useful and saved us doing an online supermarket shop (note - Ocado don't deliver so we went with Sainsburys) Thank you for a lovely week stay

This is a spacious house, with everything possible in it to make your stay comfortable. With 3 bedrooms and 2 reception spaces, along with a large kitchen and 3 bathrooms, it meant that our group had lots of breathing space! As the caterer of the group, I can say that the kitchen is almost better equipped than mine at home, and there was certainly more fridge and freezer space! The 'housekeepers' (not sure of a better word!) were very helpful, and were at the end of a phone on the couple of occasions we needed them. If I had anything negative to say about the place, it would be the lack of immediate outside space … there is a private grassy area across the road by the games garage where you can sit, but only a little bench outside the kitchen door, and that is right on the road. It's a small road, but it is busy. With windows closed, you don't hear much traffic, and it's a small price to pay for the location - 5 mins walk down to Portscatho, 1 min to free car park. Also, for our group, we tended to be out all day, and just collapsed round the kitchen table with a pack of cards and a bottle of wine in the evening!

A wonderful family home, spacious rooms, full of books and games. Fantastic kitchen - perfect for family living including dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay helped by fantastic weather.

This cottage is beautifully equipped and very comfortable. We stayed during a cold snap but the cottage was very warm. It perfectly located for an easy walk into Portscatho where you will find a great pub and other hostilaries and amenities. There is easy access to the coastal path. While the cottage absolutely suited our needs for an out of season stay it is worth noting that the outside space is limited (it is mentioned in the description). It’s necessary to pop across the very quiet road outside to get to the main garden. If you have a dog, as we do, this isn’t the most convenient arrangement for first thing in the morning or last thing at night. I’m sure the neighbours swiftly got used to me dashing around in my PJs. Out of season it’s not a problem but may affect people in the summer months if they want to laze around out side. All in all a lovely stay at a comfortable and very clean cottage.

Fabulous Christmas holiday spent with family at Turnpike Cottage. A very spacious well equipped cottage with everything we needed to make it so enjoyable even including a Christmas tree and decorations! The large kitchen with settees was excellent as having our border terrier with us this became our social hub! I would highly recommend this cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Turnpike Cottage. We were greeted by complimentary wine and biscuits and further inspection showed milk, tea, coffee and lots of condiments had also been provided in the very well equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed the benefits of luxurious bedding and towels and hand wash on every basin. The cottage had been cleaned to a very high standard and we found the Welcome manual very informative. This is a large cottage and every age group has been catered for with maps, books, dvds and games.Gerrans and Portscatho are well provided with amenities and seem to be a thriving village community. The cottage is well placed for touring the Roseland and further afield but it is also great for staying in and relaxing. The parking space was amply big enough for our 4x4, a bit of a luxury in Cornwall. Our dog enjoyed his races around Porthcurnick beach and we were pleased to find lots of dog friendly eating places nearby. We hope to return to this lovely cottage very soon

My family had a wonderful week in Turnpike Cottage, the cottage has a great selection of books and games for rainy days and the games room was stocked perfectly for days at the beach. The beds are lovely and comfy and the large kitchen was great for enjoying a meal and a bottle of wine with the family. The cottage is ideally situated for the local beaches and an evening stroll around St Mawes harbour is only a 10 minute drive away.

David Major

We had a super holiday. The cottage had everything you could ask for and more. The closeness to shops, eateries beaches and pubs was very convenient. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again .

Loved this place. It was well laid out and fully equipped with loads of extras which you might need at some point in your stay. It caters for us oldies as it is a nice quiet location and kids as its full of stuff for them to play with on rainy days. Really loved the décor and great facilities for the six of us who stayed. The kitchen was large and well arranged and the two living rooms added an extra space so you had room to breathe as well as think. Absolutely loved it.
